Agreed. But that's Andy's prerogative. I'm SURE he's considered what's best for himself and his business and as of June, stated right here what he was planning. Yes, that can change. But I also like to think developers are generally men of their word. And if they're going to announce something like upgrade plans that early, that they'll plan on sticking to them since people may have made financial decisions based on that information.
So I think it's safe to assume that The Glue V2 upgrade pricing will be what we were told it was, with the reasonable understanding that things could change.

I noticed that Andy's last post about pricing doesn't mention anything about a free update, other than him still thinking how to solve this.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Sat Sep 06, 2025 5:21 pm Agreed. I'll wait with a purchase until v2 hits the shelves, just to be sure. Thanks for letting me know this. I want the situation to be that it doesn't matter financially if you buy now or later so I'll have a think about how best to tackle this.

With regards The Glue v2, if you want v2 and are not happy with v1 alone then please wait. For all customers that purchased v1 at full price (USD 99) they will receive a free update to v2. I previously said for those that purchased at a discount they could make up the difference to USD 99, which I will still honour.
The problem comes with people that have purchased say The Drop for USD 99 and will get a discount on The Glue v1, then they have an incentive to wait for v2 to come out so they can get a discount directly off that purchase. What I may do is make v2 have no discounts available on it for a while, and that way there is no incentive to wait - I think this will work the best. Another option is to make The Glue v2 USD 139 (and still honour what I said in the first paragraph), which will mean a 30% discount brings it to around USD 99 anyway, so there in no difference if those people buy now or not.

Yep, working on it right now. I've got a transistor level model of the a Blackmer VCA chip (eg DBX, That) up and running, and will allow for "trimming" this chip to make it distort more or less, as well as offering a "perfect" VCA if you prefer no extra drive. Some details on this are here: https://cytomic.com/discrete-blackmer-vca/

so, just to make sure if i understand it right. I just bought The Glue v1 after seeing your last post about the v2 progress (just above this one), only to see the post i am quoting now. While i do plan to get familiar with v1 i fully expected to be able to upgrade to v2. I did receive a discount, as i own all other cytomic products and this sentence:andy-cytomic wrote: Wed Oct 01, 2025 9:50 am With regards The Glue v2, if you want v2 and are not happy with v1 alone then please wait. "I previously said for those that purchased at a discount they could make up the difference to USD 99, which I will still honour"
would be completely OK.
im just not sure what you mean by "What I may do is make v2 have no discounts available on it for a while"
Do i understand right that if i had purchased the v1 with loyal-customer discount and pay the difference towards the $99 v1 original price i would get v2 discounted ?

I wasn't sure what the best approach is, but it is clear now. I just had a discussion with my Emma (my wife and business partner) and we agreed to give everyone that has an order in their account for The Glue, and still owns the license, to have a free update to v2. We have some customers that purchased The Drop and The Glue at the same time and got a 15% discount, or purchased The Glue with a 30% existing customer discount, and it's just easier if everyone gets a free update as this simplifies our admin and extends good will to our customers.UltraByte wrote: Wed Oct 01, 2025 12:55 pm so, just to make sure if i understand it right. When v2 is out I hope you can all help spread the word as we don't do much marketing and instead spend all our time on making great products and doing R&D to make them better.

I own The Drop, The Scream, and The Glue. I use The Glue all the time. I’ll definitely be purchasing The Glue version 2, if I do need to make an additional purchase. Thanks for the great plugins.

News: The Glue v1.8.1 is available for download. Just a minor update, but a big one if the Juce 8 graphics bug is preventing you from opening the authorisation dialogue box, as hopefully now that will have a workaround.
The Glue v1.8.1 (10 Oct 2025)
https://cytomic.com/product/glue
• New: Increased needle animation from 15 fps to 30 fps, and also added settings to the xml settings files for slow update (knob positions, info text update) and fast update (needle) graphics from 1 to 120 fps.
• Fix: Authorisation dialogue box now respects the UiSoftwareRender xml setting to workaround bugs in Juce 8.
