I will contact with the support, since the recent update makes the plugin unusable for me. Thank you.sircuit wrote:I have all the versions from .24 onwards - which I suggest everyone should have backups (this is a special buggy case, I usually keep only 2 previus versions on my other plugs) but I don't sharing is allowed.goleat wrote:Is there a way to get the installer from the previous version?

I don't deny the quality of the stuff. Like I said before, since I bought Avenger, it has become my favorite synth. The thing is that Avenger expansions are by far the most expensive on the market, even Nexus2 are lower and they are still very expensive.sircuit wrote:A while ago, it was my first impulse to wish for this. Then I've noticed that unlike 99% of 3rd party preset designers out there, msvs' have all the macro controls mapped out to key-parameters in the synth and it's very easy to transform/evolve a preset into something totally different. (for the record even Nexus presets do crazy sh!t via modwheel). Static presets don't cut it anymore for proper modern dance music. The cheaper alternative is commercial packs even with the modwheel cutoff removedRyan99 wrote: And a permanent price drop to expansions from overexpensive 70$ to a more reasonable 30$.

I definitely agree with you on both points, both on the quality and the price of expansions.
As you can see the big plan is to deliver best quality at best price. It's the plan that's worked for refx/vengeance to date so why change anything?
I think the bug/performance issues have been hanging around a while now - 3 months. Too long. These issues should be cleared by now.
It can't help msvs if potential new customers read this this thread as it creates too much uncertainty.
Still the best synth I've got though.

regarding the price of the expansions:
you get much more, than just 128 presets (like you do with Nexus for example)
lets take the EDM1 as example. Beside the 131 Presets you also get
26 new drumkits
26 new drum sequences
81 new multisamples
41 new osc-shapes
10 new wavetables
The 81 multisamples alone would justify the price. You can use them to expand your possibilities for your own preset design. Or just use them as they are and have instantly 81 new presets.
Furthermore 26 new drumkits mean: 26*12 drumsamples = 312 hand picked & very good drumsamples. This alone is sold by other companies for 19€. Furthermore all our expansions went through my picky quality-testing. Means that they are all volume levelled equally, they have macros assigned, modwheel, sensible velocity, CPU optimized etc... I have seen already 3rd party preset packs for Avenger which were just lazy. Presets were clipping, used unneccessary CPU, had no macros, no drumkits or multisamples. Hell one pack even had short hihat and clap loop snippets loaded as "drumkits". Means this only works on a certain BPM, on all other it became a complete mess.
ok I hope, this explains how we get to the price. If you still think, its too much, then you really should look for 3rd party packs. But please dont complain if you get not the same quality and quantity you get with the official packs.

Ok, I understand. I guess I will wait until the next sale, probably around Christmas to look for your packs. Meanwhile, I will probably get my Noiiz subscription that I paid at 89$ to download the 300 sample packs from Samplephonics included to use more samples inside Avenger.msvs wrote:regarding the price of the expansions:

I understand your points on quality. And after years of ploughing through low grade presets I appreciate what you're trying to achieve, and I love your fussiness.
But I have to think more carefully because of the higher price.
I have to ask permission to spend that kind of money (over 50 quid) so it's no longer an impulse buy.
Meanwhile I'm still having a great time exploring the supplied presets.
Love some of the strings. Such good tones.

Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

Yes favorites and sfz import, kevvvvv wrote:Another feature request - Favourites.
I can never find presets that I've used in previous songs, and while I love having lots of presets, the sheer number of them makes faves hard to find.
I don't have the same problem in Omnisphere since they implemented favourites. In the same vein I find Spire impossible (it doesn't even have tags)
Anyone else want Favourites?
Please say so.

It depends on the patch but some are very hungry programmed. I reprogram them so that the CPU is half.goleat wrote:This is insane, it seems that with each update the plugin consumes more CPU.
Only one patch in the last three updates went from consuming 20% to 40%, 50/80% CPU.
Please fix the excessive CPU consumption.

re the excessive Avenger CPU consumption.
In Studio One, I can very quickly transform a midi track to an audio track and back to a midi track fairly effortlessly.
One right mouse click, then say OK, then a short wait, done.
It's still a compromise and I'd prefer not to, but it's very workable.
Do other DAWs have this one click freeze / unfreeze capability?
....
Second thought:
I might sell my Omnisphere 2 or Spire later this year and buy some Avenger packs.
Am truly impressed by the Simon Stockhausen demos, and I'm sure there'll be more non-EDM packs to choose from over the coming months, once more designers realise that Avenger can do almost anything, if you feed it the right samples to start with.
....
While I'm still here:
What about low cost Avenger mini-packs?
eg, 15 sub basses for low $x, 15 strings for low $y
