He's looking for authentic amp sounds to suit his fussy tastes and he ain't gonna get it, he's not getting it with commercial products...he's not getting it here. Everyone I've noticed likes FA2 except one, and for a free product, that aint bad. Go to a commercial forum and see what the ratio of happy/unhappy customers is, heh heh.

yes, and my ears are NOT picky ... they just want something open and clear and not muddy. And what i DO *hear* is crap with high gain.
You still here? this product is not for the likes of you.

If your comments results in changes that improve the tone for the better then stick around, if not, your wasting everyones time.

I think you ought to be honest and admit you've put a damper on this thread (somewhat). Are you sure there was not another way of expressing yourself?

Check out almost all of this thread and all the last big thread on FA2 and you will find loads of criticism that is well put and changed FA2 for the better. Your comments just sound like attack and sour grapes

Somebody asked about presets for my sounds I posted. I didn't save them. One is just a variation of the preset "Hose" with two instances exactly the same but panned hard left and hard right. Very simple.

The other had the same "Hose" variation on one side and another variation of another preset on the other side. It was a preset that was only two or three spaces away, but I don't remember exactly which one.

Again, nothing fancy. But I turned off the reverb altogether on them, and tweaked some other knobs.

The reason for the low gain was that it was late, it was clipping, and the the quickest solution was to turn down the master bus. So I did. That's all. Too tired to screw with it.

perhaps you are hearing me wrong then. How have i put a damper on the thread? By asking a question no one can answer? I am trying to seek the improvement of tone within FA2.... information is nessescary, the dissemination of which comes through talking.

Again, to sensitive ears, anything but arse kissing will sound like an attack.

I am glad you're here. Any quest for improvement of tone is a good thing.

A strong word of advice: stop using the word "crap". It's VERY emotionally charged. It suggests there is nothing worse and nothing can be done with it. If you mean "not a pleasant sound" then say that. If you mean "muddy" then say that. If you mean "buzzy", "chirpy", "burbly" etc... Those suggest it can be made pleasant or cleaned up, and shouldn't raise many hackles.

I liked the tone you posted, that you were looking for, it's a great tone. Maybe you won't get it. Don't let that stop you from finding other tones here!

Is this thread still in the fight-stage? :hihi:

audiojunkie wrote:By the way, Jason, I apologize. I noticed that you clarified your comments and don't seem to be being negative in this post. I guess I was concerned about some of the posts I read regarding Reaper. You've always been such a friendly and helpful guy. I was worried that something was wrong.

Once again, I apologize. I meant no offense. :-)

Still friends? :-)

whoa i didnt even realize anything, what do you mean on the reaper forum tho? Im still the same guy.. try to be helpful where i can, have a sense of humor, dont hesitate to call me out if you think im being a jerk, ill respond to try and clear it up. :D

but i would like to know what on the reaper forum made you think this.
Actually, come to think of it, it may hve been here... It was the whole discussion with Hovmod. But I'll shut up now, because I was probably in the wrong, and don't want to stick my foot further into my mouth. ;-)

Thanks for your patience with me. :-)

Clean tone with tremelo on the rythm (Hacking at Bob Wills).. Used 2 instances of freeamp 2 in Reaper. I think its a decent old school tone. Took about 5 minutes to get a decent sound and record. I noticed that reaper stuttered several times at first when trying to record. Has anyone else had this happen? It kinda hiccupped on playback. Trying to get something close to a fender sound. saved the fxp if anyone wants it. Took some messing around with the eq in free amp. http://stashbox.org/uploads/1152824279/ ... 0small.mp3

Nice tune! Tonally, the treble on the lead lead had just a wee bit too much punch in a few spots (but I've got a crap stereo), but damn that sounded nice. Felt like I was driving an old jalopy down a country road. Makes me wonder what you're using, software you record with etc... Nice work!

Makes me wonder if you've got an old jalopy stereo hooked up to your computer. :hihi:

Worse...two tiny 3x3-inch cubes and a sub. lol. Actually, maybe it's just that the rhythm guitar could have been louder. I'm in an attic apartment and it's hot as hell up here right now and putting on my big headphones aint an option right now (pant).

That tune makes me think about getting a clean-guitar library for K2.
