and how do i dotted lines in skinman?
Save these BMP into the Texture folder:
http://music.service-1.de/linesH.bmp
http://music.service-1.de/linesV.bmp
Draw a line using the shape or lines tool (vertex 2), for a vertical line use texture linesH at depth 100%, set medium color/gray and adjust thickness / texture zoom.

thank you so much wok, will try that.
maybe any hint on my previous question?

and anotherone, maybe you can answer that:
how do i make it so that multiple selections get the same treatment? i.e. i select 2 shapes and then i'd like to change the properties for them in one go...

is there any possibility to treat 2 (or more) background shapes as one?
i'd like to create a master background plate for a surface, which is made of different shapes with different colours, and now i'd like to treat it as one and apply a gradient _without_ the need to render the whole as one file...
I think that's not possible - if combining grouped subshapes with the "shape+" option, they get the same color.
I do that by placing another big shape over the background, do the gradient / texture there and adjust the transparency of the colors.
i select 2 shapes and then i'd like to change the properties for them in one go...
I did not found out also. That's something to ask for in an update. Even copy/paste effects (right mouseb. in the objects list) does not copy everything.

Drawing two shapes

Make a copy of both.
Moving the name "Ellipse" over "Rec" and set "Operation: Shape+" for Ellipse will combine them.
Image
Set Fill1 black, Fill2 white for the combined "Rec", make gradient color fill.
Image
Set Fill1 60%, Fill2 20%
Image
If desired, make a copy of the combined object, remove gradient, Fill1 medium gray, add texture with 100% intens., adjust Fill1 transparency.

g200kg, feature requests for skinman:

- when putting shapes together for the operation modes (+, - etc., not grouping), please make them being treated in one go not only in the drawing window, but also in the properties window... maybe with a modifier key, so that it still behaves like it is now, as this also is required. it's a hassle to be forced to do that within the drawing window, i.e. if you have to do precise numerical size editings that have to be applied to various similar shapes.

- once the shapes are in a group, you cannot select them anymore, cycling through them via clicking on them doesn't include shapes in groups as it seems.

- and this one is _very_ impoertant:
could you please add a border mode called "inside"? often i have done a rectangle shape, and lateron in finishing a complex gui i decide to add a border - the whole gui gets messed up, as the border is _outside_ the shape, thus the shape gets bigger then. with a tick rectangle in the properties window called "border inside" or similar, one could choose the border to be inside the shape, so the shape doesn't ge bigger. also please keep in mind, that, if the border isn't 100% alpha, you should add a mode where either the colour of the shape is seen, or the underlaying shape is shining through.

i'll be back with more...

keep up the marvellous work! :)

g200kg,

another feature request:

- could we please have absolute sizes of the shapes in the properties? so that we know the exact dimensions of a shape? would that be possible?

g200kg,

a bug report for skinman (or at least an inconsistency):

when rotating a shape, it changes the direction of moving accordingly. so when you i.e. do a triangle for the tip of an arrow, then want to move it via drag'n drop, it won't move to the desired direction as the reference has been rotated, too. that means, as soon as you group such a shape with some others and then select and move the group, the group is being changed in size as well as that the shape is moved _not_ into the direction the other grouped shapes are moved to.
essentially, the rotation of a shape should _not_ change the direction it will be moved to.

yes, as WOK already reported, the rotaion of the 'Shape' has a problem.
i intend to change current internal struct of the 'Shape' in a huge way because it has many small problems.

Feature request,

A rectangle and circle selection tool for skinman that works like graphics programs. Select an area ctrl-c it then ctrl-d it to create a new primitive image. If this was possible I wouldn't have to use import/export to gimp so often. Thanks g200kg keep up the good work!

Edit: Also pasting what's in the clipboard as a primitive image would be useful too.

Post

Also another request,

If you click on a primitive especially when zoomed in you have to scroll to that primitive, on large projects it can take a while to find zooming in and out helps but having the display focus on the newly selected primate would be quicker. I think this should be an option though as not everybody may like this.
