i've already said my word in that thread
the guys were talking about ideas for this and that, and at the end - the guy who started the thread got into some trouble and sort-of banned from the forum temporarily
meanwhile another guy took over just the CPU mod idea
it doesn't really matter who'll make the CPU mod, once it is available - everyone can start coding some big fat code in there ;]
the clock itself is simply part of the firmware, thus you can do whatever you want with it (in terms of shuffle or other tricks)

there is a copy pattern function on the TB-303, as well as on the x0xb0x, and in n0nx0x too

right now it's paused because i'm waiting for some information about the 303 CPU in order to figure out as much as possible how the 303 sequencer handled memory
i almost got the Metronome thing working just like on the 303 (yeah, it has a metronome in Tap Write mode)
once i figure this CPU thing i'll continue implementing the rest of the sequencer interface
meanwhile i did some more sound improvements to the filter, envelopes/accent and the oscillator..
actually this is where i used my x0xb0x - recorded huge samples from the VCO to get an idea how the square wave looks like, and with a huge thanks to "guest" @ x0xforums and "Hideki_" @ #musicdsp, i got a pretty damn nice approximitation ;]
also, i measured and emulated the potentiometer response of my x0x knobs, the Cutoff/Envmod/Decay pots are "log" but erm, they are actually "cheap log" - that's 2 linear sections of resistant material thing.. well it's boring but now i can turn the knobs on both Venom and the x0x to the same position - and they respond the same ;P~
now here are some of the latest recordings and comparisons i did:

the second one is: i do the same thing on both synths browsing thru a pattern's PitchMode (pressing the NEXT button)
then, i play the pattern, you can try to guess which synth is which
third one: testing the new metronome, as the 303 is a monosynth - the metronome is done by the VCO itself, it plays short high "C" notes which interrupt the others like in this test

sounding fantastic. sounds very familiar.
also like the vca click, (even though the x0x-ers are all trying
to eliminate it. very 'authentic'. you could have it as an option )
wondering how you are planning to implement note input to sequencer. will be good
if it can be done from an external midi k/b,(since it'll have midi mode this time?).
would also be good to be able to enter time mode, maybe via an assignable 2state
midi CC, eg: gate-gate-rest-gate-rest, etc.(same for acc+slide).

uhm, one of the mp3s i posted (the comparison with the x0xb0x) at first you hear some "notes" playing (not patterns)
this is pressing "NEXT" in PITCH MODE
uhm, you know, the buttons on the synth are "tied" to 24 midi notes, when you press c#5 this is the "RUN" button
g#5 is "PITCH MODE"
from there, you can write the notes just like on the 303 (and like n0nx0x) by pressing the "keyboard" buttons (c-4 to c-5) and by pressing a button (by holding a MIDI note) you hear the synth playing that note, just like on the 303..
in fact, you won't need the Mouse to do all of this
the mouse would be needed for the rest of the interface (which is not part of the 303 and isn't tied to MIDI notes)

Boom. but then they have to wait for the firmware tweaking for it
to make sense!
was thinking a x0x could be interesting with rotary encoders for pots,
you know, so MIDI CC's could be sent/received on the sound controls,
and always display the correct setting via led indicators.
prob' mess up voltages somewhere; bt i guess new cpu could also handle this.
if your new plugin and firmware are 'parallel' with interchangeable data,
could be fun too: program up some pattern banks on VST, and send em over
to the x0x(i know, 'said it before...)
to make sense!

rotary encoders - NOOOO, you'll kill the 303
seriously, the 303 (x0xb0x) is all about TWEAKIN the knobs
i don't have any experience with rotary encoders, except for the TEMPO knob on the x0x, if they all work the same way - hell no, it's sooo jerky
the new CPU has more pins, i'm not sure if it's possible
not sure what you mean by "parallel" .. i already copy/pasted a huge chunk of code from n0nx0x to Venom, and with a minor edit - it worked ;]

and sure you can transfere pattern between n0nx0x and Venom, they will use the same format, and uhm
currently it's not possible to extract memory from the x0xb0x reliably (well there is a new app called Safeb0x, but it doesn't support n0nx0x)
eventually, some day, a new app might support propperly extracting the x0xb0x memory to a file, also importing a file
Venom will be able to convert from/to this format
