heck no ... hell I could get clips that sounds like those with AT1 or the original POD a Soundblaster and the MDA freeware compressors 10 years ago.hibidy wrote:thank you! He says quite clearly that not OSX/x64 right away.....has that changed since that filming?ObiK wrote:That is not true.surferman wrote:At the end of the video it sounded as if it wasn't going to be 64bit for OS X yet. True?

haha! Yeah, I'm not quite buying that, I think they sound pretty good but nothing over what I have imho. The ultra limiter non-dynamic thing is irritatingSJ_Digriz wrote:heck no ... hell I could get clips that sounds like those with AT1 or the original POD a Soundblaster and the MDA freeware compressors 10 years ago.hibidy wrote:thank you! I don't think I'm exaggerating much. The original AT1 had a very distinct/irritating noise in the mid/highs. I hear that same mess in those clips. What I can't tell is if it is really just being artificially brought out by horrible compressor abuse. Or, if somehow we have got some old modeling code creeping back into play under the name "processor optimization".hibidy wrote: I'm not quite buying that, I think they sound pretty good but nothing over what I have imho. I truly think that the actual products will be great. I just can't understand why a company would put out bedroom studio quality demos of their upcoming hot products.

I think they are aiming at bedroom customers. The whole thing wreaks of "iphone" to me. I have no doubt that the models will be good and I'm sure they won't break the bank but it's about money and right now this is probably a brainstorm of the who iapp craze.

tbh I think they will make far more if I understand things correctly...if I have this wrong let me know because I only check in on this thread, I have not opened AT3 this year. As I understand it instead of AT4 per se there will be more models to purchase but pretty much AT3 with more models?
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

This concerns me also. I understand as a software company IK needs to go where the $$ are. But, we can hope that the iCrap apps won't mean companies ditch more difficult to write and maintain applications that target a smaller audience. But, I don't doubt that they make far more on throw away applications for the iDrones than they do on desktop applications. Quantity > Quality in this case.hibidy wrote:The whole thing wreaks of "iphone" to me.
But, all the clips did was make me NOT want to buy the products. Instead of getting me excited about the release, it totally damped my enthusiasm. Now, I'll carefully demo each item, probably multiple times. And, I'd really rather do something other than demo stomps and amps. So, I'm not sure how that will affect my inclination to buy.
Finally, if they switch to the iWorld, then I'm not a customer. Not a big deal for either of us to lose each-other. But, I've been a customer for a long time.

In the context of AT, I am also a bedroom customerhibidy wrote:BTW, I'm a bedroom customer(or I guess a spare bedroom customer)
But, I know a ton of bedroom producers who can one off better sounding demo clips

I'll say that they're pulling a P.T. Barnum and that bad publicity is better than no publicity.SJ_Digriz wrote:Based on the clips, we've regressed then compressed then maximized then limited.festeringheap wrote: Looking forward to seeing how modeling has improved over the last 2 years.
Almost all agree that the mp3 clips suck and many are talking about that.
If the Custom Shop amps offered indeed suck ass upon demoing, well, one can decide at that point if any JamPoints are redeemed and by extension - half the money each model is worth.
Personally, I have recently discovered the freeware X30, NRR1, LeCto and LeCab IR loader for my rock/distorted needs, so I really doubt that there is anything in the Amplitube offerings that I will like.
I'm interested in the cleaner amps, a bass amp and some effects to complement my current lineup, so am looking forward to this Custom Shop experiment - whenever it finally happens.

I just posted on Peter's fb that they should model a Pignose. It was good enough for Zappa...
