Those figures are for Suite 8 - with Suite 9 all content is downloadable if you go down that route.
I wouldn't assume that Suite 9's downloaded version comes with all 40+ gb of content, considering they're still selling the download version of Suite 8 for about a hundred dollars less than the boxed one.

There is a difference with the Live 8 Suite Boxed vs Download... With Live 9 Suite, the download will have everything. 50GB or so... That is how I understand what Ableton said...

I certainly hope that's the case, but I have my doubts. Why would they be selling a download license to Suite 8 (with a free update to Suite 9) for less than the boxed copy if the download contained everything? Surely if they were going to include absolutely everything in the upgrade to Suite 9's download version, they'd be selling the box and the download for the same price right now.

Just emailed support about it, so we'll get an official answer in a few days.

It is any version of live 8 registered now that will qualify for the update, right?

Im really considering selling all my plugins except Reaktor, buying the 9 suite upgrade and getting push and being done with ever buying anything more. Also going to keep metasynth and I think i'll be more than covered for a lifetime.

Because the Suite 8 download you get right now does not include what you get with the Suite 8 boxed version... that they both include a free future upgrade is incidental to the fact that they are different products right now.

Clearly there are some issues with the website that aren't yet complete (e.g. the forum) and their pricing is also a work-in-progress. Don't panic though folks ... I'm sure with a little patience it will all soon be clear.
I agree. I saw the video on the official channel when it had just gone up, so I assumed it was an official leak. I immediately uploaded it to my site and plastered it all over the internet (ie I Buffered tweets and FP posts etc). Then the video went down and Ableton sent me a message asking me to take it down and cool the discussion. This was last Saturday night. However some f**ker upped it back to Youtube and then it was all over the place. So yeah, they might have been planning to announce it later.

The pricing of upgrades is definitely TBA.

Have you seen the 1 hour "Ableton Preview Event" videoI? I don't think they were planning to announce it later, considering that the time between the leak and this preview event was very short, and such an event cannot be planned overnight having people flown over from all over the world, or can it?

I actually just watched this myself. It was a very well planned out event for a such a short notice. I guess the leak was just a few days early.

It's like cooking - you need to have all your ingredients ready to serve at the same point. They obviously had the launch event ready and booked, but the website didn't/doesn't seem to have been fully ready and tested...

Maybe I missed something, but I didn't see any mention here yet of the price change. I was just about to purchase the Suite 8 upgrade for the $197 it was previously priced at, only to find that it has suddenly increased to $299. A response to all the disgruntled Suite owners? At any rate, for an extra $100 the upgrade is a considerably more difficult decision: I can get the ( standard upgrade for $159, so it's a real question if I need Max and the extra instruments (most of which I already have equivalents) so badly.

I don't think the lowest starter version qualifies

Someone going from an M-Audio or any other 'lite' version to 'Intro' may know.

Having the full version of Live 7 grayed-out "Live Intro" as an option for me, so I wouldn't know about that qualifying also, and I have only seen (and heard about) "upgrade now and get v9 free" with the regular 8 version and 8 suite.

Excuse me, I noticed a lot about the unfairness of giving such a great deal to Live 8 owners and cheating Suite 8 owners. This is a new price change that makes the deal for non-Suite owners a lot less attractive, and evening the score somewhat, to give Suite owners less to complain about. Please show me the post about this price change, that probably just happened yesterday.

To reiterate, before the weekend, my price to upgrade Live 8 Standard to Live 8 Suite was $197, and today the same upgrade is $299. A major increase in the course of a couple days.
