Is the undo history for the mixer an "all or nothing" approach? For example, say you changed a parameter in your bass track, then changed some parameters on your drums. In the mixer undo these all show up, but are you able to go back and only undo the vocal parameters? Or does it step all the way back to before you made the changes on the vocal track, which also removes the changes on your drums as well?

Hopefully you can undo/redo specific items, but frankly I've accidentally messed up enough parameters in the mix console with my mouse wheel that I'd be glad to simply have undo, LOL!

Kinda absurd they choose El Capitan as baseline, 10.11 deserve a special place in hell for audio plugin UI issues
Crazy !!!
Cubase 9 is running flawless on my 10.9.5. Just to let you know.
THANK YOU FOR POSTING!! Please let us know if you run into any issues, but this is good news!

Breaking it down into smaller $100 increments for the X.5 releases keeps the value roughly the same, but also allows for a more even cash flow on Steinberg's side, I would imagine.

Regardless, $100 makes it easy to hop on right away.

Until you realize that Logic X cost $200 total, and since its release has had numerous updates and upgrades (e.g. additional synths like Alchemy!) for $0. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE cubase and it is my preferred DAW, but I personally questioning switching due to its yearly maintenance costs. Though I will say I prefer that to an official "monthly subscription model" as I can continue to use Cubase 8.

Thank you for sharing! I'll have to try this in the future.

edit: I see you went from 7.5. How much was the upgrade from 7.5 to 8.5? The reason why I'm asking is because the upgrade cost from 8.0 to 8.5 was $50 (if I remember correctly) so if they give you 9.0 for free, then you save quite a bit of money vs upgrading from 8.0 to 9.0 which is $199.99 or even from 8.5 to 9.0 which is $100

1. You already own Cubase 8.0
2. You register Cubase 8.5 today

Do you get Cubase 9 for free?
I can confirm that, as this is what I did today, and after registering the 8.5 update for 8.0, the eLicenser Control Software told me the update to 8.5 was skipped since I was able to update to V9.

Does anyone here have both Cubase 8/8.5 and Cubase 9 installed side by side on Windows (preferably windows 10) ?

I have a few songs that still use a handful of 32-bit plugins that I haven't finished and probably won't for many months. Yet I see some updated features in 9 that could benefit me now on others (that don't use the 32-bit plugins).

The problem is that Logic, while a great value, comes with all the issues related to being tightly attached to the OS. Logic is a way to sell systems for Apple. But that also means you have to update the OS more often and keep a system that, while powerful, is exaggerated in price. And Apple can arbitrarily force updates for no good reason.

Now, Logic is an amazing host from what I know. If I had a Mac, I'd have a copy and likely use it at least as one of my hosts, no doubt. But the price of Logic is able to be lower because of the nature of who owns it and what their ultimate goal is, which is not to sell more copies of Logic.

Cubase isn't astronomical in upgrade costs compared to the other competitors in the same price range. Though it is updated more than many that don't go with the yearly cycle. So that can contribute to more frequent costs. But overall, they aren't really that high.

I have them installed side by side on Windows 7. Only because I installed the 8.5 demo last night thinking that the servers would be impossible to use today. In fact I have 7.5,8.5, and 9.0 on the same machine. I don't seem to have any problem switching between them. I haven'tr tried saving a project in 9 and opening in an earlier version, but, all my old files open just fine 9

Thank you! I'm going to be brave and upgrade now I think... right after I backup my projects :hihi:

Yes, the upgrade from 7,.5 was $149. It's $249 to go from 7.5 to 9. It seems like the thing to do is to keep using the x.0 release until right before (x+1).0 is imminent, then buy the x.5 upgrade from x.0 and hold it until the release of (x+1).0.

Judging by what I see here you are correct. I also noticed that the move from 8 to 9 went up in price as if it were a penalty for those that did not increment. I incremented, but did so as soon as 8.5 was released so there is no grace period for me and I will have to pay full price for my upgrade. Do I give a shit? Not really, but I will say that it is nice to save some wampum on something that I would eventually buy anyway, so I will be hanging out with you guys 2 years from now and see if I can get in on the savings. :hihi:

Pretty much most of izotopes (all vst2), a couple of Korgs (midifilters and mixer 1,2,3) and Xilsfiles 64 and Kick 2.
In a sense, I think that this is good. It might force some vendors to start taking this a bit more seriously. I think that it might be good if to name names here, so, right off the gate, some of my Ircam plugins were blacklist.
After some testing it appears to have blacklisted only the Izotope vst2s not the vst3s which is fine and the xilslabs plugins work. So all good. Not tested the Korg bits yet.
There is a render issue with izotope Trash 2 VST3 that izotope refuse to fix - if you use automation and bounce offline, the VST3 will not follow the automation, but the VST2 does. Their solution was to use the VST2 and not the VST3 in Cubase. Wonder what I'm suppose to do now, lol.

This shocked me at first but it's a good thing... Remove all the abbreviated to iZ pluggins from the folder keep the ones worded iZotope. You can use the VST3 versions anyway so you could delete them all. When I got Bundle 2 from iZotope I was a bit annoyed we didn't get installation choices like in bundle 1. It installs everything, you don't need the 2.0 versions.

I didn't know this but the solution would be to use the 2.4 versions, they don't get blacklisted, it's only the ones named iZ first, possibly 2.0?

Yeah, I even own two macs but I find it just too tiresome to only use a mac in the studio. Cubase, Reaper, Live, Reason, and now even Mulab all work on both, so I'm not locked to particular hardware.

Maybe not. If they use this to replace that crappy initial scan (which makes the launching of the program opne of the slowest) I'll welcome it. IMO, the scanning function should be banned and plug-ins should be scanned ONLY when launched for the first time.

Cubase needs desperately to speed up the launching process.
Plug-in Sentinal sounds for me like a scanner for malware and corrupt plugins. Maybe that the idea behind this feature was to improve the long startup time. There is of course the question how skipped plugins can be enabled or how to force a manual re-scan etc. and yes... how this will improve the startup time.
Cubase 9 (and 8.5 even) loads for me much better, faster now that I've used Sentinal.
