I sent a PM, looking forward to test SM3.

Hello, I just run the SM3 on bitwig. I had one crash when trying to change preset but I guess that is expected.
One question, I didn't find any presets, is it normal ?
Thanks

If you tried to load a SM1/SM2 presets, that is not fully implemented yet. but it loads presets saved with SM3. My goal is first add support for SM1 preset loading into layers, and then SM2. (SM2 is way more complex)Jac459 wrote: Mon Dec 11, 2023 2:23 pm Hello, I just run the SM3 on bitwig. I had one crash when trying to change preset but I guess that is expected.

After playing with SM3 for a couple of hours here's my feedback: although I encountered many crashes (which I'm sure it's understandable for an alpha version) I must say that I like it A LOT!
It has a very nice workflow, a very clean and intuitive structure and already has tons of fantastic features (and there are more to come) that you don't get in other (much more expensive) synths. Bulent, you did a great job so far!
So I tested it on two systems: a newer computer with Win10 and Bitwig 5 and on an older laptop with Win7 and Bitwig 4.4 and Reaper 6. As I already said I encountered many crashes especially on the older system, and those crashes appeared pretty much randomly so I wasn't able to replicate them. But I found two main bugs:
1. There seems to be some weird behavior with the pitch of the oscillators. Sometimes they get completely out of tune and they output wrong notes. It sounds as if the oscillator keytracking goes completely haywire. Also, if I open the default preset which contains a basic oscillator and play some notes it sounds ok, but if I duplicate that oscillator (so I should get the same sound but a little louder, as I didn't made any other modification to that preset) I get a very nasty and detuned sound. Here's an example:
mp3 file
The first half of this audio file is the first oscillator only and the second half is with both oscillators enabled.
2. The keyswitches and the MIDI CC trigger inside the sample editor are not working. As soon as I define a keyswitch for a group that group no longer outputs any sound. And the MIDI CC trigger doesn't behave as expected.
And I also have a couple of suggestions / feature requests:
- please add the ability to modulate the loop points (start and end) in the sample editor!
This is such a fantastic feature to have. Extremely useful.
- there is a Hi Cut filter built in the Basic Oscillator and in the Wavetable Oscillator. Please add a Low Cut filter as well. It would be very useful.
- please add a scroll bar on the Modulation Matrix tab and a way to delete the modulation slots when you no longer need them (like an "X" in a corner of each slot). Also, being able to maximize the ModMatrix tab in order to have an overall view of the entire matrix would be great. Something like this:
The way it is now (with just one column) makes it harder to keep track of all the modulations you have in a patch, especially when you have tons of modulation slots.
- it would be FANTASTIC if the user could add more FX modules and not be limited to just one. It's soooo awesome that you can have many filter modules (not just one or two as is usually the case with the majority of synths) and that you can route them however you want, but it would be so much more awesome if you can also have more than one FX module. You could create signal chains like this:
Cheers!

I was able to reproduce this on my Mac Mini M1, which uses 48k sampling rate. Just fixed it, update coming tonight.KTlin wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 5:04 pm 1. I will look into those. The sfz implementation is still not 100% complete. I am planning to add support for sfz envelopes for instance, so that samples can have their own envelopes independent of SynthMaster's ADSR/MSEG modulation sources.KTlin wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 5:04 pm 2. The basic oscillator has some spectral algorithms for single cycle waveforms and noises. (Lowpass, Highpass, Bandpass and Bandstrop). Take a look at themKTlin wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 5:04 pm - there is a Hi Cut filter built in the Basic Oscillator and in the Wavetable Oscillator. Please add a Low Cut filter as well. That's actually in my TODO list!KTlin wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 5:04 pm - please add a scroll bar on the Modulation Matrix tab and a way to delete the modulation slots when you no longer need them (like an "X" in a corner of each slot).
To make mod matrix management easier, we have some view filters for the mod matrix:KTlin wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 5:04 pm The way it is now (with just one column) makes it harder to keep track of all the modulations you have in a patch, especially when you have tons of modulation slots.
1. when you click on a knob/slider, only modulations for that parameter are listed
2. when you switch between layers, all modulations for that layer are displayed.
3. when you click on a modulation source, all modulation targets for that source are displayed (on the current selected layer)
Thanks so much for your feedback

When beta is ready and able to load sm1 presets,is there a chance to be available for download for everyone?
Have so many dope stuff made with sm1 waiting to be attached as layers to sm3 and to experiment further with multi layer structure.
Was about to move to Dune 3 as muti layer synth during their 50% historical discount, but i like sm structure, sound and options more:,than Dune ones and i think SM3 will be serious pretender for heavy weigth championship
And i kind of used to it,so hope beta to be available to all users or to be public download
Seriously interested to touch a stable version, especially combination between sm1 and sm2 presets as basic layers is inspirational:)

Excellent idea!kv331 wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 7:36 am I am planning to add support for sfz envelopes for instance, so that samples can have their own envelopes independent of SynthMaster's ADSR/MSEG modulation sources.
Ah, you're right! Somehow I missed the fact that the Phase and HiCut knobs change their functions depending on the selected algorithm. My bad!kv331 wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 7:36 am The basic oscillator has some spectral algorithms for single cycle waveforms and noises. (Lowpass, Highpass, Bandpass and Bandstrop). Awesome!
Now one more thing: by default the keyboard shown in the GUI has a range from C3 to F#6. Can you please add an option to resize the keyboard (make the keys smaller) in order to display a bigger range (for example from C1 to C7) or at least add a horizontal scrollbar underneath the keyboard?
Later edit: And one more feature request: can you please make the SpectralFilter's Even/Odd Mix knob and the Formant Shift knob modulatable?

I released an update this morning, which now allows loading SM1 presets. SM2 presets are more complex to process, so I first completed the SM1 import stuff.VELLTONE MUSIC wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 1:14 pm When beta is ready and able to load sm1 presets,is there a chance to be available for download for everyone?
