Hey, I own Falcon too, and it's great at what it does, but totally not as efficient CPU- and RAM-wise as Kontakt when samples are concerned (DFD primarily, but also number of samples you can load/groups in instrument you can have before an instance of Falcon croaks, then no multicore, then no background loading...). It is a sound designer's wet dream, though - no dispute there. They are a perfect combo IMO.

This is Kontakt 6 in name only... It's 7 years since Kontakt 5 was announced. 7 years seems like plenty of time to have done something significant for v6... well, maybe in 2025 when v7 is announcedSLiC wrote:So instead of tackling something useful we get offered more 'piano' and 'analog synth' sample libraries and they call that a major version update! It just seems to be more of the same unwanted (to me) filler so they can say look how many gigs/instruments/stuff you get....EvilDragon wrote:Oh and for all of you clamoring about K6 GUI. The team is painfully aware of that. It is also painfully not easy to modernize it from 15+ years old codebase with oftentimes strange dependencies. It will happen eventually, and likely in stages rather than all-at-once overhaul, but not at K6.0.
Does anyone think Kontakt 6 looks like a real 'major' update...am I missinhg soemthing, there have been better point updates in the V5 life cycle I think!

I almost bought Komplete 11 last night when I got my KK S49 mk2. *phew*
Now I’ll wait for (the increasingly inaccurately named) Komplete 12 instead.

Am sure the information is somewhere, and I haven't had time to read all of this thread so apologies if it's in here, but are there any figures for how much additional disk space is required to go from KU11 to KU12 Collectors Edition, but excluding the Expansions?
I have KU11 on an SSD with only 85GB free.
My expansions are on a separate hard drive with 1.7TB free...

All NI products need hiDPI support.benheman wrote:KONTAKT 5 definitely needs a scalable GUI interface update. Others are doing it...even the smaller names in the business! TOO LONG OVERDUE!!

Some of the newer ones actually do have it (Mod and Crush Pack effects).

For all intents and purposes, for Ultimate users the only reason to upgrade is the promise of Massive X, which is not worth $399 by itself. Perhaps also for the two additional Session Guitarist instruments, but those are only $99 each and one can easily pick them up on a sale.
Evidently NI realized this, and so created the Collector's Edition. For $599, it definitely becomes worth it when you add the complete Symphony package. Perhaps the many additional expansions also are useful, but none of them caught my eye.

i wonder too, i like kontakt but not as a just a user, it is still ugly, cumbersome and bad laid out. 2018 and still handling like early 2000's.... scrolling through a library full of libraries, instruments etc. is such a pain! maybe if you got 10 libs it's ok but not with 100.... i know NI fanboys wont see it but checkout modern GUI's, this is where companies should finally step up! we got so much better hardware and comfortability, they should start!HcDoom wrote:Whats new in Kontakt 6?

Lost interest in Komplete altogether.vurt wrote:i knew id be waiting on 13 anyway, only update when reaktor gets updated. i have to impose some rules somewhere in life.
I have K11.
I may get K12 on a sale but
likeley may wait for K13.
But will not be looking for it with excitement.
why? the single biggest reason is no Absynth 6!
And likeley will never happen. I will plot a
different course away from Absynth.

It clearly, unequivocally looks more like Reaktor Blocks than it looks like it’s namesake Massive. It looks like a successor in name only.EvilDragon wrote:Except it's not made from Reaktor Blocks, just made to look in similar vein. It's a standalone synth unrelated to Reaktor.
Maybe it IS Reaktor under the hood, I don’t know. Maybe it is a VST wrapper around a complex ensemble (which is my guess). If you know, give us a wink and a nudge.

I can't wait for the new Massive. I'm on Komplete 8 so for $200 I'm going to get a heck of an upgrade.
Massive has always been my #1, "desert island" synth. A newer / upgraded version will be most welcome. I really like the reaktor aesthetic.
Absynth is really the only synth that I have size issues with on my screen, but there's still nothing like it so I don't mind.
