Sorry but I have to say what I honestly think: the votes, I see now, for me very very rarely reflect the quality of the entries, either musically/sound design/composition/mix. Therefore when I read in the comments always the same: "well deserved", it makes me sad, because even in such a little and friendly competition the quality is exchanged with commercialism, like in all mainstream Pop culture for sale. But here we shouldn't be "selling out", I think.... But obviously I'm wrong. I have the naive ideology of thinking that who is free from commercial restrains would produce more interesting and beautiful music.

There is a lot of truth to that. Music is a matter of personal preference. The only thing we can do when judging the quality of music is consider the effort, creativity and originality.liqih wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 12:11 am ... I try, but there will always be subjective likes and dislikes that will get in the way.

So winning the OSC is "selling out"? Can you elaborate? It's not like all the top tracks are EDM of sound the same....

Wonderful thought and thanks for sharing your honest opinion. I can now better understand your rationale for voting the way you do (I've been getting 2s from you since I started participating) and totally respect it. Much love for your synths and your music, thoroughly enjoying Modelonia!liqih wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 12:11 am Sorry but I have to say what I honestly think: the votes, I see now, for me very very rarely reflect the quality of the entries, either musically/sound design/composition/mix. And I respect what you do, but I would like that you (and others here) would dare more... experiments, surprises.exponent1 wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 12:25 am Wonderful thought and thanks for sharing your honest opinion. DoctorBob and Guenon completely different tracks, this months, are examples of what I mean, the first that come to mind.
But please don't give too much weight to what I say, who am I to judge? I only needed to say what I felt.

Not polite I think to do not reply to direct questions, so I say yes, for me they almost sound always the same. The same intention.ontrackp wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 12:22 am So winning the OSC is "selling out"? Can you elaborate? It's not like all the top tracks are EDM of sound the same....

Oh I surely will experiment, with time. But having started my music production from scratch 7 months ago (started OSC in the 2nd month of my production journey), I didn't/don't have the confidence to do enough experimentation without knowing how to make listenable music in the first placeliqih wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 12:39 amAnd I respect what you do, but I would like that you (and others here) would dare more... experiments, surprises.exponent1 wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 12:25 am Wonderful thought and thanks for sharing your honest opinion. Can't run before knowing how to walk, would be my situation. The names you mentioned are masters of their craft and I'm still a noob, so do pardon my almost good music. I'll get there eventually.

hey big ups rellik! masterful piece, that one was!
and as i said before super insane round - i found myself inspired by all the ridiculous sound design and creativity this month. like, dissecting some of y'all's chord progressions and composition.
also congrats to everyone for entering and putting in the massive amount of work it takes to do these things. everyone is just pushing the bar imho, and it blows my mind what people are doing with one synth.
cheers!

Prize-wise, I'm pretty interested in the $100USD from our gracious anonymous donor
liqih, for the record, if I were capable of producing work as interesting and original as yours, I would absolutely be doing that

And if I were capable of something else I would have stolen you the prize, LOLRellik wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 4:40 am liqih, for the record, if I were capable of producing work as interesting and original as yours, I would absolutely be doing that![]()
(even if it had to cost me some prizes
)
Top job you with that FM guitar!

In the Results tab, Full Bucket’s synth and mine are switched.
In the Synth’s tab, it checks out, indeed I used Bazille
