@Angus - any plans for scope visualisation per focused parameter as per Cypher? And Cypher's Euclidian modulation would be ace, as would some subtle visualisation (for speed/polarity) in the mod matrix window.
Will note all of these. Thanks for the feedback!
Visualization the grain streams in the sample window would be nice as well.

How do you create folders for the samples that you want to pull in, so that you can use the index function of the sample? Seems like they just get pulled in as Uncategorized. Do you have to do this through the windows browser? An "Add Folder" option would be nice, and then when you have that folder selected, dragging in a sample would add it in to that folder.

Or am I missing something?

Roli support put my FXpansion Cypher2 and Stone2 licenses into my Roli account and I was able to buy this for the upgrade price. The email was in my inbox when I woke up this AM. That is great turn-around.

I need to dig in. I watched the granular oscillator video with my coffee this AM. I noticed that any wave from a factory multisample can be used as input. There is user single sample import but no user multisample (e.g. sfz file) import or multisample editor to place various samples in the keyboard, set velocity switching, round robin, and that sort of thing. I didn’t buy the synth for that but I wonder if that is on the roadmap for the future.

Playing will have to wait for after work.

Yes, any normal sample, be it a nylon guitar, or a vintage analogue sample, or one of the Equator1 legacy samples. But, in addition there is a folder called 'Granular'. This contains samples specifically prepared for use with the granular engine. Samples which are multi-layered, treated with lots of effects, chords, vocoders, foley and found sound, all sorts. Just check the sub-folders in the Granular section for the available themes.

Pay attention to the INDEX dial in the granular page.
The INDEX will select individual notes/samples in the normal sample instrument. So, if it is a Nylon Guitar, you can choose which sample/note to granulise. Different notes/samples have different tonal qualities. Maybe a sample pulled from the higher octaves has a better attack transient and 'zing', or maybe the lower octave sample has a warmer 'body' that you may prefer, etc.

Then, when using the INDEX dial with the samples from the GRANULAR folder, it will go through all the samples in the sample menu, so you can select the sample you want to mangle. There are loads to choose from!

The cool thing about the INDEX dial: you can modulate it! Use an LFO to 'scan' through a selection of samples, or use a complex Multi-Mod envelope to create specific pseudo-sequenced response, as the envelope travels through the list of samples. This can create some startling results. Go to the TEXTURE category and try the 'Cinematic Sequence' presets to hear dynamic modulation of samples in the granular engine. Here is an example. This is one preset. One oscillator, but so much sonic movement:

https://soundcloud.com/electric-himalay ... -cinematic

When you modulate the index dial on a normal multi-sample, like the nylon guitar, you can create a very organic sound as you play. The guitar constantly changes its tonal quality with each new note, having a different attack, body timbre, etc. Some cool strumming effects can be obtained this way too, a technique used in some presets.

This single feature (index sample modulation) will keep you occupied for a long time! :)

The sampler is a work in progress, so dive in into other parts of Equator2 in the meantime. Try playing with the INDEX and factory samples like I've outlined in the previous post. It really is a lot of fun! :)

I don't know what this means. So we can't create our own folders and have the samples stored there? This isn't preventing me from using the rest of the synth, I was just wondering if it was possible.

Very cool! I saw the index being selected in the granular video but didn’t catch that it is available as a modulation target.

Do we get a serial number to register Equator 2? I upgraded last night, downloaded the software with Roli Connect (Equator v2.0.1.0 & Library installed ok) but when clicking to open, i get Equator 2 screen saying : "we can't look up if you have access to Equator 2". Same thing as vst3, can't open.. :?

Equator 2 is not shown in my.roli.com account either... I contacted support and waiting

Problem solved with support. I had to close Equator 2 , sign out of Roli Connect completely and sign in again , then re-open Equator 2 to work.

@Angus: Any update on the GUI point we discussed earlier? I am Windows 10. Just to remind about the issue, when Equator2 GUI is maximised, the knobs and text look small and there's a lot of wasted space.
Yes, we know about that one. Not the quickest and easiest to fix unfortunately, but it's being tracked. (There is the option of changing the magnification of text etc. in Windows' settings, but I know that's a non-starter for some people).
This account is dormant, I am no longer employed by FXpansion / ROLI.

Find me on LinkedIn or elsewhere if you need to get in touch.

Okay, good to know it is tracked. Thanks for the update.

Yeah, Windows display settings don't help and I avoid doing any such changes for any unpleasant experiences.

ROLI Connect says I'm supposed to have received a serial number in a ROLI email. Never got one. So I can't register my Equator 2. Anyone found a solution ?
I had a look at Spam folder and on ROLO web site.

Is anyone else getting installation failed from the Roli connect app? It installed updates for Cypher2 and Strobe2 from the app without any issues. Equator 2 and its library show up for installation, and the app downloads but fails after windows opens the installer and I give it permission to proceed. I thought it might be due to lack of a license code to register and the product not showing in my Roli account but support said there is no license code. Time for a third support ticket.

Is it possible to modulate between samples during a held note? Or does it only change samples on new notes?

It is possible to modulate between samples during a held note. That’s where the fun is. :)
