Just curious, have you tried ReDominator from AudioRealism? It's an Alpha Juno emulation and frankly it's very hard to imagine Arturia making something better than that, unless you're buying Arturia plugins specifically for the hidden-panel bells & whistles.

I had the same thought when I was thinking about how some of the examples I've heard of digital synths sound a little more sharp or aggressive or something than the Arturia version. I do think it comes down to EQ or processing removing some muddiness and adding bite. On the other hand the Prophet VS definitely seems to be missing some bite that the original had, which is odd considering it is digital. I would have thought they'd be able to nail it.bmanic wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 3:28 pmOne thing people seem to forget is that any "demo recording" made in the 70s, 80s and early 90s of as synthesizer will have gone through extensive outboard processing. What you are hearing, is NOT the synth by itself. You are also hearing quite colorful preamps, possibly EQ and most definitely the process of tape.. sometimes even Tape + Vinyl.. and because it's on youtube you'll hear even further processing, the transfer from tape to some digital media and then encoded.jamcat wrote: Mon Apr 04, 2022 5:50 pm Arturia was the first to do the Minimoog, and even had Moog Minimoog branding up until Moog decided they wanted to make their own Minimoog app. Their Prophet predates all Prophet emulations except for NI Pro-5. They did the first Jupiter 8 VST, too, with a similar branding situation as the Mini.
The Synclavier is OK, but it’s not 100% to my ear when you compare the presets to the 1981 “Incredible Sounds of Synclavier II” demo record.
That chain is _long_ and imprints really strong changes in tonality and additional harmonic distortion. Thus if you compare something like Arturia Synclavier to those demos, you aren't doing an apples to apples comparison, not even close.

This is true, and for example, the Phased Gong riff that Michael Jackson lifted sounds different than when you hear the Phased Gong again later on the record. The next time around it sounds actually quite close to the Arturia preset. I think there is a bit of processing and perhaps some stacking in the Beat It gong. Also, some of the B3 sounds on the record were actually played through a guitar amp. Still, I'd like to see someone recreate the opening Runnin' With The Devil → THX sound using Arturia.bmanic wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 3:28 pmOne thing people seem to forget is that any "demo recording" made in the 70s, 80s and early 90s of as synthesizer will have gone through extensive outboard processing. I don’t know what’s going on with the Phased Gong sound on the Arturia. Michael Jackson (or rather his people) lifted it wholesale from a 1981 demonstration LP, The Incredible Sounds of Synclavier II. Enjoy just a bit of the record here, then when you’re bored skip to 6m 40s. The entire thing was a lift, same timing and notes. But it doesn’t sound like the Arturia patch at all.

Just saw a response on insta to a question asked about drum machines coming to arturia V collection. They are aware of the lack of drum machines in their arsenal and are looking forward to have something in the future. But to me this doesn't sound like they got already something coming with the next release.

I think it will be like he Output instruments, we have seen the stings based one, maybe another based on brass and another based on vocals! (all using the same hybrid engine with synthesis and granular etc)
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I also guess the same, they will put up a sort of Output like sample based line with brass, vocals.
V-Collection 9 is a kind of riddle for me now, don't know what 'new stuff' to really expect

Actually the Prophet VS is a hybrid digital/analog synth.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 6:13 pm On the other hand the Prophet VS definitely seems to be missing some bite that the original had, which is odd considering it is digital.

V Collection is all about recreations of vintage stuff, augmented a bit (usually). I wouldn't expect a bran new hybrid anything as part of V Collection. Doesn't mean they won't do that separately from V Collection though.

Speaking of prophet vs, is there no way to browse vs only presets?

You can do it from Analog Lab. Just select Prophet VS as the instrument in the browser. I cannot find a way to do it from the Prophet V itself.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Apr 17, 2022 8:55 pm Speaking of prophet vs, is there no way to browse vs only presets?
There appear to be 417 VS presets in there...
Windows 10 and too many plugins

I used the search field and typed VS, it narrowed it down. But some of the other presets are VS based, but their name is different (no VS in the name - Alien Scanner for example) so they can't be found that way.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Apr 17, 2022 8:55 pm Speaking of prophet vs, is there no way to browse vs only presets?
