I might just be being stupid and it's user error but it really annoys me that I have to keep setting the colour in the plugin and there doesn't seem to be an option to "always keep this colour"

Post

Isn't the colour saved with the state of the project?

Post

Its saved also in the preset.

Which is the problem if I want to find a quick base by hopping presets, why is the colour of the synth tied to the preset, why can't it just stay the same as "default"

Contact them and propose this change.

You have my support, as I also think it should be saved in the plugin.

I've been demoing Model 82 for a bit now, and my mid-term conclusion is that it's quite a basic and rather weak synth engine. It's kind of "meh," overall, maybe "meh+" for the filter uniqueness/mojo. But the envelope kinda blows. Maybe that's how the real SH-101 is, IDK, but if so, I'd be quite unhappy with the vintage hardware if I was inclined to buy. My JX-8P already covers the slow-envelope territory, but at least it's poly. Even for $19, I'm probably not going to buy it.

For me, there's really only one reason to get this. Software doesn't recreate the live experience, so that's just not the same. If you use Softube's modular then this is worth the asking price to get the filter in your modular.

Just my 5 cents to this thread... I decided not to go with 82 because it's something strange with a noise source in it. Sounds like it not mixed with OSCs, like it a side source of noise.

Post

It’s a very simple synth. After the hype is gone, everyone knows we own enough synths capable of producing samey sounds, so even 19€ is just a way to say thank you to Softube, not to extend your sonic universe

Model 82 sounds fantastic, but the one thing I prefer in TAL's version is the noise. It's much easier to dial in and sounds more subtle. The Softube is more accurate in that regard but the moment you move the noise slider it goes from 0 to 100 almost immediately.
That’s how it is on the Softube synths. Their biggest flaw, otherwise all sound fantastic.

That's what I did too – bought TAL's version

I sold TAL's version as I find Model 82 to sound better and "more analog" to me (except the noise). I have other polysynths so the extra voices don't sway me.

The noise is really a tad weird, but, maybe it's like that in the original.
