Do I want my DAW to be one by Presonus? Yeah, for all of its recent ills they are still up in the top tier of DAWs. Do I want my DAW to be by Fender? No, they make guitars and amps.

I understand there's some value in having a more holistic view of your customers but this still seems daft.
I agree with this. Fender is a guitar company, and I think they’re going to find they lose a lot of users who don’t make guitar-oriented music, going forward.

Personally I don’t mind that, and I will personally be glad to see them go. And they can take the stupid clip launcher with them.

PreSonus was always a “real instrument” oriented company (they started out making mic preamps) and Studio One was always a rock oriented DAW. The one good thing about it becoming Fender is that will be cemented once and for all.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

The videos for v7 were already cobbled together. I remember a video with Gregor where you could see Joe sitting on the sofa in the background. Now that NAMM is imminent, they will probably do something similar in the days between.

Seems to be based on your location. I have a valid upgrade license but no sign of Fender Studio Pro on my "my.presonus.com" (Germany-based).

I received an email a few days ago saying that on the 13th my account would automatically change to a Fender account, but I have logged in and nothing has changed yet, so maybe later on today?

It’s in mine (UK)

At work though :(

Yes, if we consider US time, then it will be evening in Europe when the business day in e.g. California begins.

thebutler wrote: Sat Jan 10, 2026 4:49 pm I can see a freshly branded new 'Fender Studio One Pro' DAW soon to launch. Its exactly like the old Presonus Studio One you know and love, but with requisite UI tweaks to bring it in line with the recent 'Fender Studio' app. This will help ease those (mobile/hobby/solo) users wanting to move their recording, producing and mixing, up to the next level.!

And along with new pricing etc, the whole situation will, I believe, largely be all ok... the sky isn't falling in, folk will decide either to update or not, Studio One will continue to work just as you've always loved, we'll all get on with our lives...
Sounds reasonable.

But until we see what this looks like, price points and what we get (or not) - I will be treading carefully.

I have already decided that taking the Presonus name out and putting the Fender name in - feels sour to me.

This change will not bode well longer term - espeically when many already view the Fender name as a huge negative post-merger given this company's innate lack of any ability (after 4 years) to do anything positive whatsoever with our (current) favorite DAW.

Seeing the latest announcement of what's in v8, I think Fender will be ok (for S1) going forward...

It's not just software and interfaces, you know...

Yep..they renamed it to Fender Studio Pro - https://eu.fender.com/pages/fender-studio

Post

I called a friend that I mentioned earlier today in one of the above posts, who told me a few days ago that he will not renew because he feels he was scammed, and he is going down any other route, and I told him about renaming and that he should check the release video.

The idea was that since he is waaaay more experienced with this software, to give his personal take on the release. We just ended a phone call. I laughed at his reaction.

He told me he watched the video and basically that the video is more about two people than the product, and that the new release should not be called Fender Studio One 8, but

Fallen Studio One 8 - instead.

I laughed at that part because it sounded funny. I asked him to explain more, and he said that his feeling is that they desperately try to make their DAW better on the performative side and that they are copying Ableton or Bitwig features. Apparently, new "features" are gimmicks and sand thron in the eyes. He feels cheated and didn't change his opinion.

Really not an important story, but funny enough, at least for me. Fallen Studio One ha ha
