Ah ok, thanks. Didn´t notice that. Somehow it looks a bit better then the current one but still.. I really don´t like this GUI. I mean.. its 2023
Both of those are screenshots of old interfaces. If someone is an existing customer that is still running v1.0.17, then they have had this very old version installed for a very long time, and to only just now start complaining about the user interace I find highly improbable. The other alternative, as well as complaining, is even worse.

@enCiphered: can you please send an email to support@cytomic.com using your registered Cytomic email address so we can talk about this further? I do hope for the best, and look forward to your email so I can help you update your plugin to the latest version.

I have v1.7.11 installed and it looks exactly like the second picture above. Is there a newer version with a different interface?

Sorry, the picture I took for my screenshot is from your own website. But it looks exactly the same as v.1.7.11 which I am using. I dont mean the number of buttons, I mean the overall look of the interface.

Ahh, that makes a lot more sense that when you said “this is what my instance looks like” when you meant, “this is a screenshot from the webpage that looks similar to what I see when I run the plugin”.

The interface won’t be changing, so if you don’t like it, and how it looks is more important to you than how it sounds, then I recommend not purchasing the plugin. The Drop was released over 11 years ago now, and the current look and feel is around 10 years old, so when you say “its 2023” (sic), according to the graphics it’s actually 2013.

PS: thanks for the reminder that I need to update the screenshot on the webpage!

Got it, thanks. So I am using the right version :tu:
I have already bought the Drop, so it is not something I plan to buy in the future. I just authorized the Beta version, so you can see that I am a real customer. But I can of course send you a direct mail, no problem at all.
However, I didn´t want to complain. See it more like constructive feedback for an excellent product. I don´t understand how someone is working for months or even years to update his plugins but doesn´t find the time for a few days to improve the GUI.
It's as if one is carrying an RME interface in a Walmart bag..
Anyway, its your product. This is just a customers feedback.

It takes a lot longer than "a few days" to code user interfaces, and there are no such plans to do any such work. I am sorry you don't like the look and feel of current interface, but hopefully the quality of the analog modelling DSP in The Drop will be all that anyone listening to your music will actually notice :tu:

What does that even mean? What don't you like about it? Why? Do you want it to look like Volcano?

No, that would be too much to ask for. I mean simply replacing the graphics. If you take a close look at the screenshots, especially if you scale up the plugin in your DAW to a higher resolution, you'll see that the used graphical elements as well as the background image just look outdated and poor. None or poor shading to highlight depth, those strange rings (artifacts?) on the knob surface etc. It appears exactly as the developer has already said, that nothing will ever change there. The interface gives the same impression

The Drop is the best sounding plugin - to me
The Drop has the best and most inviting GUI - to me

It’s just perfect. Please don’t change it. It is what it is. People who want it to be like something else, they need to look somewhere else. What does 2023 GUI standard even mean. What’s not in fashion will be again in 10 years and so on. It’s a never ending loop. But there are things that never go out of fashion and they always work and they are just perfect as they are, like a pair of jeans. The Drop is like that. It’s a forever green. The Drop is a pair of jeans

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

Same specs here. But flawless resizing.

@GUI-talk: Keep it like it is, Andy. Thank you.

noiseresearch wrote: Tue Nov 07, 2023 3:43 pm I don't mind the GUI. It's still fine. A slight polishing would be appreciated but definitely it is not necessary. However there is a scaling issue (bug?) not the beta version though. Windows 10, recent Live version.
...
Thanks for spotting this. The current beta has fixed what you see, but you are still allowed to scale up past 150% when drag resizing. I decided to allow people to scale up past 150% (which is the maximum value shown in the menu now) just in case they still wanted to be able to get up to 200% for some reason, but that may be confusing.

Would people still like to "drag resize" up to 200% or would you prefer this limited to the 150%, which is the maximum of the menu? All I need to do is change two numbers from 2.0 to 1.5, so it's easy to do.

Hey Andy, thanks for all your hard work on the VST3 versions. Any idea why the new installers no longer read the VST2 path from the registry on Windows? The previous versions would respect the value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VST > "VSTPluginsPath".
