Well, fans of my Mini-Vyn, you will be in for a treat:
Last night I spent countless hours racking my brain for how to make the GUI smaller, and I can say that indeed, it was a success. The keyboard is gone, the knobs have been changed, all the artwork has been made smaller. I even worked on the filter some to get rid of some of that digital drive for a more VA type sound vs. digital. ;)

I'm gonna post again tonight when I get it loaded to my page.

If you were turned off the Mini- before because of the GUI, you just might turn back on. :)

----Mini-Vyn appears to still be in-the-running, I've heard lots of people kind of sound surprised that it sounded so good to them, but slowly people seem to be discovering it. :)
----The other underdog synth, that sorta fell off the chat-map here, is that MST VS-1000R. That was my early favorite, and is still in my top 5. A little high on the cpu, but I thought it sounded great.

Okay, I finally went through all of them, leaving me thoroughly impressed (and thoroughly depressed too about my own chances for a top-5 spot :-) )

A top-5 being sooo unfair, here is at least my top-10, the top-5 of which will get my DC vote. In any case, respect to all 30 of you for going out on a limb and submitting this great stuff.

(1) BuzzRizerFree (because how it seems to make not only sound but life itself brighter)
(2) MST VS-1000 (because I'm a sucker for those BOC-style pads)
(3) Choralozoide (for the absolutely fantastic thing it does to vocals)
(4) Fire (for its sweet bounce effect on guitars)
(5) PushTec (because of its superprofessional feel & sound as far as I can judge)
(6) Superubbish (for giving me biggest smile in years and for teaching me not to take ourselves too serious)
(7) Pondular & Collide And Play ex aequo (for their daring and innovative concepts)
(8) Lunchbox Battles (for the addiction it causes)
(9) Triple Cheese (for its sound & eminent presets)
(10) all other entries (for the generosity of their authors to release such quality stuff for free)

BTW, my ranking criterion is not necessarily objective quality of the plug (I can't judge anyway, not being a pro gear expert), but rather my emotional response to it, combined with the question : will I use this regularly later?

well, it would feel a bit weird to vote for oneself, wouldn't it? Apart from that I'd recommend ts heartily to everyone... ;-)

I'm actually not going to vote at all.

Call me greedy, but even if I did vote myself as number one that's still four other products that get more points, potentially costing me any position I might be lucky enough to pull down. :hihi:

----Ha-ha :hihi: Maybe your math is even more advanced than mine then. At any rate, I'm glad Mini-Vyn has found some fans, I liked it a bit from the get go, but it's creator was overly negative at first, luckily I think he knows now that having some fans for whatever reason = waayyy better than perceiving none for any reasons, and I'm happy for him whether he wins or loses. :)

Bloody 'ell, I'm actually trying to pick my top five to vote for and it's so hard to choose! Not only are there a shedload of top plugins, but they're so hard to compare - they're all good in different ways. I mean, how do you decide whether Lunchbox Battles is better than Pushtec? Dammit!
It's a rave, Lewis!

Chris, if winning is the goal, that would make sense indeed. And I think miniVyn has a chance, for it does produce excellent fat bass sounds and there is a market for that if you consider the popularity of the Access Virus.

but speaking of math, I did a quick calculation. Even if I would get the no.1 prize money, that would earn me, say, 1/4 of the hourly rate of what I would make baking hamburgers. So it must be some other motivation then that kept me going ;-) So far, the positive feedback I got from several individual people made it already worthwile for me. And not to mention having a lot a lot of fun with it all...

i've not even tried to figure out the math,i haven't time,i'm going on instinct.and i'm still not sure if i'm gonna vote for meselfe, yet.i'm trying to finish a song using only the dc stuff and i've about 5 still to test, mainly the eq's/compressors and vocalfx, but i haven't even used my own synth yet!
if mine turns out to be bettter than all, then i'll bloody vote for it!if not then i'll vote for da bestest!

Heheh, now I feel all swell.

At the moment though I'm kind of off-and-on when it comes to cash flow, so a quick thousand would be quite swell. ;) If nothing else it'll do well to keep my car filled with gas. :?

Any way about it, if you liked the first Vyn wait 'til later on tonight (tonight where I am, anyways) when I load up my update, it's oodles more impressive, and fits COZY into a 1024x768 screen! :D

GIT! I'd just spent some time and pain trimming it down to five and left Mini-Vyn out after quite a bit of umm-ing and ah-ing.

My vote as it stands (subject to change):
1) S.A.N.E FM - just love it. I can't automate it, have to specifically save and load my presets when I reopen a song and I'm not sure it does anything that I couldn't have done with (say) Purple, but it's just so easy to use and has almost exactly the right controls and has such a good sound that I couldn't resist it. The minimal CPU hit helps, too.
2) Lunchbox Battles - not much to say that hasn't already been said!
3) Pushtec - ditto.
4) Zombie Fungus - cool noises, great gui.
5) Drive 5 - I'm not really an amp-sim expert or a guitarist, but I do like using this to skank up my beats.

Almost made it - Mini-Vyn, Triple Cheese, Drum Mic Positioner, Choralazoide, Collide and Play.

Also excellent - most of the others...

Heheh, I figured you'd be one of the ones to appreciate it. ;)

Well voting is still going for a few days, and while I won't pester you to vote me in, it'd be swell to have a point or two thrown my direction. ;)

Regardless, reserve your judgements 'til you see the actual update. :)
