No offense, but people aren't exactly hyped up about Arturia products most of the time.. I don't personally know anyone that uses them and they're generally considered overpriced & clunky. Public opinion here about them is definitely not good. Their new products like this keyboard and Analog Factory seem uncreative and derivative at best, shameless cash cow milking at worst. So if they have a "flawless" demo it isn't doing much for their rep.

In short: Spectra has a 25 page thread about their new product. Where's the Arturia thread?

It makes me happy to see Eric on screen using the phrase "Organic Synthesis" - it couldn't come from a better sound designer, in my view...

It does amaze me that they manage to turn such oddball recordings into playably musical instruments, though... and the arpeggiator looks kinda sexy - the fact that you can lock the feel to the feel of an RMX groove is really nice...

Especially resolved all my doubts about the granular synthesis-, FM-, etc. features possibly being just hyped features we already got years ago in Glenn's Crystal!

And furthermore I'd assume that you can drag just any MIDI file on the arpeggiator. Like chop up your own recordings in pHATmatic PRO and drag the MIDI file directly to Omnisphere. :-o

trying save face here..ive watched the videos and it looks damn nice,lots of innovations, i may have to save up for this.

one thing i have noticed though is that he needs to wear glasses because he keeps squinting to look at the monitor :lol:

One thing Omnisphere needs - in fact all commercial synths...

Intelligent patch randomization and blending.

Omnisynth appears to be so deep, it just cries out for "pick 2-4 patches and blend", or "pick a patch and intelligently mangle it" against the STEAM engine.

I know, it's probably just me - in fact, it usually is. ;)

Firstly, like in RMX, you can choose different source material but leave the synthesis settings intact - so if you have a mentally filtered synthesis section, you can try out different sources samples from the library without changing the synth parameters.

Secondly, and I'd really wanted this for RMX - you can get the plugin to choose elements at random for you. In RMX, I have a tendency to go to the same sorts of places, so I've wanted the plugin to just present me with new elements at random, rather than get me to choose elements based on the name/location/tempo etc.

Leads to more happy accidents with less effort ;)

I just finished watching vids 6-8 from the above links, and what they have is pretty close to what I had in mind. Not quite SoundQuest's blenders back in the day, or Dr. T's, but not bad at all as-is.

While I got right away that Omnisphere was powerful, until I saw the vids, I just didn't grok it in full. Now that I have seen them, all i can say is every commercial synth vendor on the planet has been seriously trumped.

I'm glad I had the rare good sense to get onboard with Spectrasonics early on. It's going to be a lot of fun to work with Omnisphere come September.

just watched vid 7. damn. wish I wouldn't have.
While I'm nearly sold on the merit of the granular stuff alone...I'll admit that I've not kept up with the 25+ previous pages: don't hit me if this question has been asked a dozen times-
What is the expected cpu hit like?
I've got an aging amd athlon 64 3500+ that gets by *OK* these days...will this beast bring it to it's kneezzz???
(i'll have to view the other vid's later. hope their quality is better than that of vid 7 :scared: )
