mixedfruitjam wrote:Hey all,

Was wondering if this MIDI looper is finished? Very keen to try it in Apple mainstage.

Do you do an AU version?

Otherwise I will have to use FXspansion's VST to AU conversion software. Would rather not as its £55

I would love to see Mainstage be able to loop midi and quantize in real time. Its way better than ableton in my view.

Cheers
:)
it's not finished, and yes there will be an AU version. i've been too busy to work on it lately but i still intend to have an official release out soon.

Post

is it possible to record to multiple midi channels at the same time to different tracks inside midi looper and then export or drag a midi file out of midi looper to an external pian roll or folder?

Post

it can record multiple channels to different tracks at the same time, and it can export each track separately. if you mean combining all the channels into one file on export, it can't do that.

well I think the fact that it can record to multiple tracks at the same time is still great.

Very clever stuff,it looks really interesting. Will have a play with it.Hope you get it finished and make some reward with it as it must have taken you ages to make.

I am having a couple of issues when using the Midi Looper in Reaper.

- When play at next bar is enabled and a loop is triggered it'll sometimes wait until the Midi Looper cursor goes back to the start of the loop and then play all the notes it "collected but didn't play" at once on beat 1.

- It sometimes doesn't play a triggered sequence that was playing fine previously and in which (almost certainly) no parameters were changed (edit: see post below for cause)

- Out of all the sync modes, only Sample works (I understand that this could be a host-specific thing, from the notes). (edit: they all work, I was distracted by the Sample one working when the transport wasn't playing)

Has anyone else tested in Reaper and got these issues?

I've checked it out again and the single sequencer going silent isn't happening, so that was probably user-error. What is happening though is that I have got three 1 bar sequences, two set to toggle (Kick and Hat) and one set to mono-transpose when key-down on a key range (bassline, single 1 bar note for arp).

Every now and then the three stop playing for one bar and then start again the next bar. No other keys are getting pressed.

Aha, I just found the cause of that. It seems that this only occurs when a note extends right to the end of the loop range. If I reduce the 1 bar arp note to just before the bar the occasional one bar of silence doesn't happen.

A question too - is there any way to monitor through the I/O Channel of the current sequence? If not, a wee Mon button next to the Thru one would be sweet.

Thanks for a great tool piz, this is going to be f-ing amazing once these wee kinks are worked out!! :) (I already bought it a couple of months back btw but didn't receive an unlock for it, don't worry though 'cause I'll buy it again soon!).

Sorry, another couple of wee issues...

- When Wait for Next Bar is selected, (at least) the Octave Transpose is ignored from the Loop Manipulation section. Also the Note Triggering seems to be reverted to Mono (Orig Key), although the GUI still shows Mono (Transpose). The symptoms are that when Wait for Next Bar is unchecked, I have a range of notes that happily* tranpose the (one 1 bar long note(minus a tad)) sequence up and down the range, offset by two octaves up to compensate where I am playing them on the keyboard. With Wait for Next Bar selected, it is two octaves down and plays the same note for every key in the Note Triggering Range.

- (*) When triggering a 1 note sequence for a loop/arp the note cuts off early after being triggered on the start of the next bar (Wait for Next Bar is not enabled). This seems to be dependent on going from Stop to Play mode because playing legato so that the ML sequence doesn't go into Stop mode stops this happening (apart from with the first trigger note pressed).

Let me know if you need any more info!

Cheers.

Hi
main idea is using more than one ML
lets say ML1 128 slots all piano phrases
ML2 is 128 slots Bass
ML3 ...guitar.

all 3 MLs receives scale + note trigger data from same channel
also all 128 slots note triggers in all 3 MLs assigned to whole keyboard so from note 0 to 127
transpose mode is "Mono ( Orig.Key)"
when the chord/scale notes pushed they will ( 3x128 slot) start to play obvious..!
..but they all start even in "play active slot only" mode
all 3 x 128 slots start to play at same time till you push the one of the slot or use the prg. change message to switch the slot
after that ML play one slot but when the the new chord pushed all slots start to play again ..
when you had time please could you fix this, (i hope this is a bug).
if not a bug
here is where my request start
one more play mode would be very cool which is same as what "play active slot only" does
but in this setup .
just push the chords and change the slots on the fly
...
also i tried a few different way with note to CC plugins and assign CC message to master play button but it didn't work very well
(too many crash ... i didn't give up yet still im trying).

since long time very quiet here
i wish you are ok piz

OK, I just seen this. I know it's still int he works & there is no documentation, but let me get this correct:

MIDI looper basically works like an arranger keyboard... in that you can play different MIDI files (phrases or arrange), have them loop depending on the size of the MIDI file, switch to different progams (that have different MIDI files), can be controlled by chords and/or a single key???

(yes... I'll download & try it but I'm at work right now LOL)
