Good point.
Not even beer they can't make right.

BTW, Samplitude is also German, PC only doe.
I hope you are joking back, since it was pretty obvious I wasn't being mean spirited at all (eehhh hmmmm....smiley people......smiley.......)
yeah, right.
The Germans had the first and only deaf composer in history of music. How worst can they get?

Post

did somebody say something? What? Come again? Como?

BTW (to others) how did germany make it onto the "don't make fun of us ever, even if it's a nice lite joke" list? You gotta be...........KIDDING me!

Lost me on that one. How does innovation make up for lack of musical talent? I think people forget that musicians used to be on the other side of the glass.

Now everyone is an engineer... or claims to be.

Best case scenario? Talented engineer recording a talented musician. Pretty rare in the home studio scene where everyone is a jack of all trades... musician, producer, recording engineer, mixing engineer and mastering engineer.
Well, it was supposed to be a joke.

I like to use this analogy, the Sahara is dry, I'm drier!
Ah... I get it. I thought you meant that innovative features make up for lack of talent in *users*. You meant it makes up for lack of talent in *Germans*. :hihi:

I'm slow... funny... don't quit the day job for a comedy career though.

see, I thought it was a common joke that germans can only make techno (which of course isn't true).........anyways, like I said, it was supposed to be a joke, I thought the emoticon made that clear.......sorry.......

Actually, the broader joke is that the Germans aren't exactly known for their flexibility. This, of course, then spills over into the creativity thing and goes on from there.

I spent some time in Germany in the late 70's during the "Reforger" military excercises. I had a really good time and the people were darned friendly, most of them anyway.

Beautiful country.

I was a tank driver and we tried to get "killed" in the war games as often as possible so we could enjoy the local festivities.

I'm still kinda struggling with the workflow/usability of Cubase. Probably because I've become familiar with a vast amount of short-cut keys and modifiers for other applications, so Cubase would seem fast if I actually knew a large number of the workflow tips. Lawrence has kindly provided a lot of info, but it's spread out across a few threads now.

Are there any video tutorials out there that specifically emphasis workflow and speedy navigation/editing, rather than feature descriptions? I have the manual for how things work, but I'd like to get up to speed on zipping around Cubase a little faster.

[edit - lol, German Beer + Tank Driving. Oh the possibilities! :drunk: ]

Add being 18 years old into the equation and yeah... it's amazing I made it out alive.

3rd Armored Calvary Regiment, Ft. Bliss, TX. Brave Rifles! :hihi: puff, puff, pass.

I want to go to germany, but it'll never happen....I don't know enough about how to travel abroad

Old dog, new tricks and all that.

Wasn't this a cubase thread at one time

BTW,

I would love to see automation curves beeing displayed right on the track they're targeted. This overlapping display of crucial information would improve surve of crowded arrangements even more, especially during mixdown when screen estate is still becoming a real asset even in these times with all those huge monitors.

Cheers,

I don't know if you know this, but when you perform a command in Cubase and go into the key command menu the last "keycommandable" action is highlighted. It's handy for learning/altering existing KCs and for making new ones.

Post

well, as an example, some of my favorite key commands that help my workflow are:

F2/F3/F11....essential!

1,2,3,4,6,8, for slice, trim, mute, yadda..

Alt click drag for copying.

too many to name actually, and I'm sure those are remedial for many people, but I find those KC's to be far more "well duh" than other hosts I've tried.......ymmv.

I think its just a case of mapping your own preferences, which is done from the option in the File dropdown menu.

On my laptop i like to use the lower range of keys for common stuff I use, such as zoom, normalise selected audio file, crossfade, switch metronome on/off, etc. But we all work differently, and its way easy to set up keystrokes just as you want them. Then workflow flies even faster
