It's a pretty straightforward synth actually. I'm not a sound designer at all and I was able to get some really nice sounds from init.

just spent about 45 minutes with the stand alone. wow...this is what i was thinking of when i first heard about the ultranova. however, from what i've heard of the demos, i don't think the ultranova can get anywhere near this synth, sonically. the electraX action sequences are really great! i'm going to really tweak those beyond recognition!
electraX is so good, i'm going to buy a laptop or receptor just for it. this will probably be my main performance synth.
this s/w pushes my web machine (emachines 6811) to its processing limit! can anyone provide the specs of a minimal pc or receptor that will run this s/w without 'strain'? thanks.

??? this is one of the synths in my arsenal that uses the least amount of processing power, really.aaastronomer wrote:just spent about 45 minutes with the stand alone. wow...this is what i was thinking of when i first heard about the ultranova. however, from what i've heard of the demos, i don't think the ultranova can get anywhere near this synth, sonically. the electraX action sequences are really great! i'm going to really tweak those beyond recognition!

Same here... My older machine (2.8ghz Pentium 4 with 2GB) is running it pretty smoothly.cyphersuit wrote:??? this is one of the synths in my arsenal that uses the least amount of processing power, really.

Agreed. ElectraX is one of the most cpu efficient synths around. When using a single synth layer (which is how you should compare to other synths), it's often down in FM8 territory as far as efficiency.

Which issues specifically? The demo is still only 10 minutes long and annoyingly takes you to the site every time those 10 minutes are up, but it's still worth trying.VSTJuNkiE wrote:Are the issues mentioned in this thread fixed in the demo? Don't wanna demo unless they are. Thanks...
Another issue is that the first time you load ElectraX demo, some patches do not sound right, or there is barely any sound. As soon as you re-load it and every time thereafter, it sounds as it should. I've also seen problems where sometimes some on/off controls don't respond correctly (for example you turn off one of the layers, but you can still hear it). This one isn't too common though. As for the fm acting strange, that was cleared on the tone2 forum. It's random noise modulating an osc when the source osc is off (so it's unpredictable but not a bug, just a design thing they might change). And as for fm not being heard when raised from zero until a new note is triggered, that's because the fm algorithm is off when fm is at 0 and the algorithm does not go on until a key is pressed. This can apparently be worked around by putting it as a destination in the mod matrix and then it is on always and raising fm from zero works right away on held notes.

Wasn't there a bug with the notes not responding right or something? Or was that just a bug with the Arp behavior?Echoes in the Attic wrote:Which issues specifically?

Oh ya, sorry, forgot that one. Note's do get messed up in legato. That's acknowledged and hopefully we'll see a quick update to address that. But I have no idea how quickly.VSTJuNkiE wrote:Wasn't there a bug with the notes not responding right or something? No it's true unfortunately. You can only initialize in the full version. How this could possibly help sales I have no idea. Combine that with the 10 minute demo so you have to spend a few minutes resetting everything first to get an init patch, and it almost seems like they're trying to get you to not buy it! And they also remove the resynthesis ability and other things.Luftrum wrote:Am I doing something wrong or is it just not possible in any way to initialize a patch in the demo version?
Well I bought it anyways.
On another note, I thought there was supposed to be a random patch under the INIT menu, but I don't see one. Anyone?

that isn't even resynthesis then... deceptive term, unless you are missing somethingEchoes in the Attic wrote:No it's true unfortunately. You can only initialize in the full version. Well I bought it anyways.I'm underwhelmed by the resynthesis as it only takes a tiny bit of the waveform in the middle of the sample, I thought it would resynthesize enough of it to sound remotely like the source, but it just ends of being a random cycle of the waveform, so really just useful for single cycle waves or getting a completely random waveform out of a sample. Would have been nice to know with the demo. But the rest is still awesome.
