But other hosts which load 32 bit plugins "natively" in x64 are still only bridging / wrapping them, which is just as "non-optimal" (sic) as using J-bridge.

I had a chance and downloaded 9.0.3 from my account. It is terrible and some of my projects created in 9.0.2 don't even load. Do not try to install it in any case. Wait for proper bugfixed release.

Yes, and what's worse is that Ableton are not planning on including an integrated wrapper:

I'd rather use an integrated/supported wrapper than some external 3rd party code.

Hosts like Reaper/FL studio manage it and they are seen as entry level.. also Cubase and Logic naturally have this out of the box. Ableton should have a solution for this built in, in my opinion. I've use all these hosts except Logic myself.

It actually says they don't plan on developing their own solution. This won't stop them from licensing jBridge or another bitbridge / wrapper.

Ableton clearly think highly enough of jBridge to include instructions on how it's used on their own website...you could therefore argue that support is maybe implicit?

I get your argument; lots of people were disappointed that Ableton didn't at least licence jBridge for inclusion in Live 8 x64 / Live 9. But hey, if enough people made noise about it, maybe they'd reconsider (hey, it worked for multi-monitor support, *COUGH* ).

At the end of the day, yes it's an extra $15 to spend on jBridge, and a little work to set it up, but it works well and really isn't a barrier to x64 adoption.

i'm using 9.0.1 and i just noticed 9.0.2 is available, so i'll probably grab it.
one thing a bit annoying is i can't find a version history anywhere on their site to see what may have changed.. do they not release that or am i just blind?

updated to 9.0.4 and now I have terrible lag in the GUI. The latency of the setup hasn't changed, but the GUI will just halt for a second at a time. It seems pretty random too. I've tried reinstalling, anti-virus, defragging, pagefile, registry fixes, clearing cache, drivers.... I'm really out of ideas here. It certainly was not like this with 9.0.1 or 9.0.2, so I can't come up with anything...
Does anyone else seem to have a problem like this?
:D

See if the ableton index process is running and what kind of cpu its using, if its using alot, kill it. I dont see it often anymore but back at the first release and the beta's it would cause me lag too cause it was sucking up cpu

A bit ironic, that your sig says Ableton Live is only getting better, no? ;)

It's more about me getting better :D

I've checked CPU usage and RAM usage, and they have plenty of headroom. I just tried booting into safe mode, and was still able to reproduce the problem. When I go into the processes, I have even tried to set the priority to everything above normal. I'm really stumped..
It's 64bit, so maybe if I try switching to 32?
:D

9 is a mess though in some ways. Packs area mess, they don't work like they did in 8, there have been slow/sluggishness (though that seems to be fixed here) bugs, it's not the joy I went through with 8.

I'm talking about the stuff that the masses have experienced, not just some random issue someone is having. It doesn't suck here, it's just incomplete. I don't understand it, it's been this way since my first beta of 9 and I keep seeing that some things get fixed, and I still keep hearing the same complaints. It has to be something more to the program.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. There is nothing about 9 that is so mind-blowing that I need it. I guess if you use push then that is a whole new ballgame. I'm not buying push though.

Yes, I would have hoped for a few more bells and whistles..
And a bit more stability..

OMG, the new beta has:
Using the TAB key while renaming a track would not jump to the next track name if certain control surface scripts were enabled in the MIDI / SYNC preferences.
