Not mine i bought it at a week old from a guys shop.. he'd already installed it on that machine with his i.d so i see it in the app store but i just have to pay again.. no big deal will get it later and test it

No mate i have the MPB Retina here.. as i said there's GB amd some Pixelmator thing that needs to be activated on my account, seems the guy who had it a week before me had already bought these or were assigned to his i.d

I see them in my account but they need paid for on my i.d

Anyways i am very happy with LPX and i dont' really care if it does like GB as long as it works for me.

Yea, I'm sure LPX is a quality version. I've not used Logic for a few years now but it's always on my radar for a re-purchase.

TBH don't waste your money downloading GB, really not worth it.

Thanks mate i'm not really gonna do that hehe i think i have all i need here to make music. Never managed to crash it yet either. Pretty stable on my setup all i need now is a big monitor via Thunderbolt and i'm set

Hello, just read a lot of different things and I feel confused

Personally I like the new interface but is not enough to justify an upgrade.. ops I meant to buy a complete version at the price of upgrade that will never be upgradable because of the store app that pudffjdfgsdg

Now there could mainly be two reasons why it might be interesting for me:

_the possibility to bounce again into movie in 64bit mode (it seems possible for what I read)

_the real backward compatibility

I still have an old g4 running logic 7 (wasn't able to install it on ML without too much fuss) only to be still compatible with old songs (and I have hundreds..). Right now it's the only way to do it..

If someone can confirm these two points I could start to think to upgrade it; otherwise I have little problems, if none at all, keep working with ML and logic 9 64bit on a 2010 16gb iMac 27"

I purchased LX and am really enjoying the new features, even as I am hating the gui a little more with each passing day. Garageband? Sure, to a degree. For me a better comparison would be one of the more garish and less well thought out Reaper skins. After working a while in "LOGIC X!!!" and then going back to L9, everything looks so smooth, polished and (ahem, dare I say after millions of cat posts on the Bitwig thread) grown up.

It's just me, clearly, as most other folks don't seem to mind. As another said, Apple has thought this through and will 'win' whether people like me like it or not.

Working in a DAW is like being in a 'place' to some degree, and I'll be the first to admit that I am sadly nostalgic for the 'place' Logic used to be, for so long. I'll keep using it and will surely get over it.

If they can tweak it a bit to get rid of some of the giant dialogs with giant buttons and tons of empty space which look as though they were made by someone just getting up to speed with an Apple equivalent to Visual Basic, that would go a long way. If they could come up with a few alternate color schemes besides BLACK and GRAY and NEON, that would be nice too. If they could give us a few options to toggle (old Logic style channel strips or some such) to at least give a nod to the past that would be great and I would happily STFU and move on already.

If they don't, they of course win anyways because I really love the program and will continue to use it regardless, Kyle the Drummer and all!

what i realized this morning about the new GUI, that i like: it's colorful, like music. L9 now looks drab by comparison...
either way, we adapt...or use L9, or move to something else.

am adapting just fine...

Must say, though, that Logic Remote is phenomenal and makes up for everything. In terms of substance and usability, Logic X kicks big ass and I really, REALLY enjoy making music with it.

What makes you think you can use LPX for this purpose? I don't expect LPX to be any different to LP8/LP9 in terms of loading all songs - namely, LP8, LP9 and LPX all *officially* load LP5 songs and later.

However, in practice, the loading of LP5 & LP6 songs is variable - sometimes it's fine, other times they can't be loaded and you are asked to convert them with Logic 7 first.

I don't expect LPX to be any different to LP8 or LP9 in this regard, so buying it just for that purpose seems a bit silly. No need to keep a G4 around though, just keep a UB version of Logic (ideally 7.2.x) on your Intel machine, it should still work, at least to convert songs. If you are really tidy you could install it on a Snow Leopard VM or something.
