Voted guys! what a difficult work! very great tracks, good luck to all!
The problem of kvr and scd is that now I can't hear any song different from these! All commercial songs disturbs me!
I love electro, synth, no voice!

Thats how I feel about the votes, guilty about giving 2's but doesnt mean they are not good

@MTLE, shame you didn't get your song in. I really liked it. Nice mix too! :)

Very hard to judge any one above another. Like others have said, I too feel bad about giving votes other than 4 or 5! But, this is not a reflection of the quality of the tracks, just my personal opinion, taste, judgement about mix, sound design and composition. In the end the 1-5 reflects a relative range for this comp.

Good luck everyone.

Thanks for your feedback. Confirms me to continue.
Was not an easy decision to remove it, but necessary IMO.
Try to better myself.

I agree completely. So hard to put tracks in the lower bins! I just think that we have to judge using our own criteria (and we are all different in that respect- which is good), and remember that we are just judging this comp and so the 1-5 just reflects how you feel about this set of tracks.

But yes, incredibly hard this month with so many fabulous tracks.

PS OT, but I want to share, hope y u don't mind - just got 4th at rekkerd https://soundcloud.com/doctorbob/inflewense

Voted!

As always not an easy task. For some songs I would have wished for a 1-10 scale, especially the ones that came to lie between 3 and 4 points and where I had to decide where to place them.

My main criteria have been:
  • Song structure: Does the song contain variance? Is it composed of identifiable parts? Does it have good transitions and ideas?
  • Melodies: Having a song in my head a few hours later is definitively a plus. :)
  • Sound design: What kind of sounds have been used? Are they unique somehow? Do all sounds fit together well? What effects have been used on the sounds?
  • General production: Are the instruments well EQed and separated? Does each instrument have an appropriate volume? Is the song loud enough?
  • Gut feeling: Do I just like the song? :)
Using words I would describe the scale as follows:
  • 5: A song that I would repeatedly listen and get back to. More or less in "pro" territory with regards to most of the aspects listed above.
  • 4: A good, well produced song that only has some minor things missing.
  • 3: Average.
  • 2: Contains some serious mistakes, e.g. kicks or percs not landing on the beats, no structure, too loud sounds, etc.
  • 1: Pure garbage and my own song during the vote. :hihi:
Like the last competition OSC68 has been a real pleasure for me. Many interesting songs and ideas to listen to and also a good motivation to finish something myself (albeit a bit rushed in the end, never enough time). I feel more and more home here, mostly due to the regular participants. :) Last but not least, thanks for all your comments so far! I'll try to comment a bit more on Soundcloud as well in the next days.

P.S.: I have voted for "G-Roove - The One" as featured on Soundcloud and not for "G-Roove - Spectraland" as featured in the download version of the tracks.
Passed 303 posts. Next stop: 808.

voting soon - I just have to say I've listened to all a couple of times now and the quality of the entries is outstanding across the board! Just one more run through to separate the best from the very good :)
@MTLE - a real shame you had to withdraw - your track is excellent!

Thanks to everyone who has commented on my track on soundcloud, sorry I've not had chance to reply yet - been a bit busy with other stuff.
And thanks to KeithX303 and others who have commented on Jenny's video, its appreciated

Yes, I'd just like to add what a friendly and supportive community this is compared to many other internet message boards.

The overwhelming sense for a beginner like me is that the unspoken rule is to be supportive to other board members. ..if you can't say something good (or at least specific and constructive) about a track, then don't say anything at all...

I'm afraid my extremely limited sound design skills are going to defeat any attempt by me to enter this month though. After an hour of messing around with Flexoid, I haven't even managed to find the volume button! :help:

I agree, as a beginner myself on here I have found the help and critiques invaluable and have helped me improve my skills immensely over the few OSC's I have entered. I find people make appreciative comments on genres which clearly are not on their radar at all, and you have to conclude that they are out to help a fellow musician who is simply doing their own thing (just not theirs!).

That's sad - all I can say is, keep at it, and it will come to you. I would agree that the interface (and routing) is not as intuitive as some synths :hihi: There's still a couple of weeks left :help:

Cheers, and thanks for your comment on my track

Hmm some of the "debates" that go on on KVR are not quite as friendly, sometimes

Yes I find it a very confusing synth too, it looks like it should be really interesting to hear some of the coming tracks.

Ah well I meant in the OSC threads and the linked Soundcloud tracks.

I'm sure there's still a lot of hot air blown in other parts if the board...
