Number one, I'm not a pro. It's a lifelong hobby. I actually would like to go pro but it's a lot of work and I just don't know if I have what it takes. I hear a lot of things I want to fix in my music. Anyway- I don't want to discourage or shut other people down! I mean, that's how I feel a lot of times about my work in comparison to others- I don't want to inspire that same feeling in others so I'll withdraw my track if it has that result.

Two. Yup- it's all Dexed. I'll share my Ableton Live project with anyone who wants it just PM me.

Three. I feel like we're all on this path of improvement together. If there is anything I can do to help out others, share ideas give suggestions please contact me. I don't really like to give out unsolicited critiques but I'll do what I can if asked. I feel like that is a great way for me to learn as well.

I hate you. :P

Seriously, I don't even know where to start.

First of all, I refuse to believe that came out of an FM synth. There is just no freakin way.

Secondly, this is the kind of stuff I hear in my head that I'll have to be reincarnated 100 times over to be able to create. I simply don't have the skills...period.

In relation to this track, mine is a 2 and that's being generous. Now I understand my low ratings. I can't shine your shoes let alone create anything this good.

Finally, I'm going to take a stab in the dark here on this one.

You're a professional musician. You do this for a living. You may even have had some cuts that made some dents in the charts. If not, you have seriously missed your calling. This is just as good as anything I've heard on the radio in this genre...maybe better.

Ding, ding, ding, we can all take our marbles and go home. We have our winner. I'm almost tempted to withdraw my entry out of embarrassment.

There is nothing left to say.

You sir...are a genius.
Absolutely do NOT withdraw your track. You are an inspiration to all of us, especially to me.

Been doing this for 36 years but obviously either don't have the talent or haven't learned the things I need to learn.

But I'll get there. I'm now more determined than ever.
:nutter: Can someone please give me a hint why jasinksi is hyped so much here? I agree his tracks are on very high level, no question. Because many people said listen to his tracks to improve, I did that more than once. I found some nice skills that will be tried out by myself and I found things that where not comfortable to my ears in almost each track. From my opinion: good - yes, god - no :hihi:
And because somebody already won multiple rounds, people must listen even more critical to those tracks instead of calling them winner automaticaly.

Don't get me wrong. This level of tracks is important for the competition to give some people a goal, but it should not be overrated.

And maybe he will be DQed for missing tech details. :D
Please add your instances and FX in the thread, jasinski! ;)

There are 2 people here who I feel have mad skills as far as the OSCs go. Jasinski and Z.Prime. I've been doing this for 36 years and wish to God I could achieve their skill level. I just don't have it and that's all there is to it.

It has nothing to do with hype or god worship or fanboyz or anything like that. Not with me. I listen to everything critically. I judge the song on the song and not by the person doing it, which is why I don't love everything Paul McCartney has ever done even though he is my favorite Beatle of all time.

Those 2 people here who I mentioned, IMO, are amazing. That's all there is to it. I am a relative newcomer here and don't know them from Adam, but I sure as hell wish I did. I can't say that about a lot of people here.

I am not drugged or mesmerized or hypnotized. I truly believe Jasinski has the skills to do this for a living IF he wants to. And yes, I feel he has the best technical chops of anybody here. Makes me look like a first grader.

You don't have to agree, but this has nothing to do with hero worship or anything like that. I'm too old for that crap. I just call 'em like I hear 'em and Jasinski is pro material...period.

Again, you don't have to agree, but it's how I feel.

I agree: Jasinski and Z have the skills. At the very least, they should have tracks on beatport quietly earning coffee money. Alas, the marketing of music is a completely different beast, so I get why they haven't gone pro. Seems commercial success in EDM has as much to do with promotion as musical skill & talent. Same could be said of several other regulars here. Have a listen to some of Photonic's top 5 OSC entries if you're interested in hearing a similar amount of skill and talent applied to more acoustic genres. The top tracks are really humbling actually.

And I get that this is an insanely competitive business. Being great alone isn't going to get you there. Plenty of great starving artists.

My chances of making it in this business...1 in 10,000,000,000,000,000

Making a business out of a passion seems to take the fun out of it, anyway; work is work. "Do what you love" is overrated. But moreover, staying amateur means we make whatever music we want... no need to cater to fashion or clients' needs etc.

Well, I guess it's all a matter of perspective. I'd give anything to be in that position after struggling for 36 years. It has been my lifelong dream. Cruel irony that such a dream should be wasted on somebody with so little talent.

Somewhere in another life I must have been a miserable excuse for a human being.

I have spent the better part of the past 3 months downloading and listening to ALL of the OSCs. There is some serious talent here....pro or not. It really does make for great listening. We should vote together and put out some compilations.

Something I noticed throughout all the listening is that it seems the more simple the synth the better the tracks

For example

Mono fury, Charlatan, OBXD, Ragnarok the tracks as a group sound better than say Alchemy, Synthmaster,Z3ta....to my taste
And to my surprise Synth 1 wasnt all that impressive compared to the rest.

I have been doing this too - but only a couple of OSCs per month, so still some way to go :)
I plan on making a playlist of my personal faves at some point. A compilation would be a great idea!

I also agree about the simpler synths (Though the Hive entries were particularly awesome). I think there is something about having to work around the limitations. A personal favourite for me was the digits synth for programming the patches.
