Why does it make a difference how much was paid? Money was spent, not an insignificant amount. It is not too much to ask from the developer to provide some updates if the product is still alive. If it's not then say so.PanRaubichForever wrote: Sat Nov 22, 2025 1:55 am I wonder how much you all folks paid for Rapid to be so bitter? Must have been a couple of thousand bucks.

A joke...and a point.
Let me make an analogy. Let's say you went to a restaurant and got a good meal but with horrible service. Would you still give them five stars or would you point out that the service needs to improve? How will the service ever improve if there are no complaints?
In the case of Rapid we need to separate it as a product from the developers who produce that product. As I've said several times in this thread Rapid is an awesome synth but the company behind it is lacking in communication and according to reports by others lacking in support as well. (I've never needed support as I've never had any issues with Rapid).
The point is that software developers should be treated just like any other business. You praise them when they deserve it and you call them out when it is warranted. All progress comes from those who complain not from those who are blind sycophants (bootlickers).
The main thing people are asking here is if the guys behind Rapid decide to go out of business will we be provided a way to keep authorizing the plugin? It's a very simple question and also a very legitimate one. If the company can't or won't answer it then they're going to get push back.
Pretty simple.......

Rapid owner here. Loving the sound and all the vast synthesis options, but kinda worried—like a lot of us—about Parawave going under and not being able to authorize it next time I reinstall. Pigments 7 just dropped and is on sale, so thinking about picking it up as a 'future proof' replacement since it seems to cover most of the same stuff. What do you guys who own both think, especially sound wise, as I find it’s one of Rapid’s strong points?

I made my point clear a few times already... it´s very likely that Rapid is dead...braacq wrote: Thu Dec 18, 2025 12:36 pm Rapid owner here. Announcing the MSEGs around Easter week, saying it delays a bit ... but not long... and not even doing anything at Black Friday is telling imho a lot...
The only thing in question will be now just when the doors will be closed and what will happen to their copy protection...
Judging on their behaviour the last years I will go for myself with the worst assumption: They just shut everything off and disappear... meaning the next time Rapid needs to be authorized it will be dead on your machine too so I stopped using it completely to not run into trouble in future.
I like Rapid but I don´t find it any outstanding soundwise to the other "Monster Synths" on the market...
Every instrument sounds a bit different, for me Rapid´s filters weren´t very outstanding positively already anyway so I´ve not lost anything...
Instruments like Pigments, Serum 2, Dune 3, SynthMaster 3, Nexus, Avenger, Omnisphere, Phase Plant and all the others I forgot to mention will not be worse in any way...
Only CPU wise Rapid has had it´s advantages against many competitors... it was for me always the "Sylenth of the Monster Synths" but anyway... render in place is your friend
Perhaps it´s already time to just deinstall and forget about it...

Pigments is an accretion of historic bits and pieces from Arturia's V Collection, and the result is very mixed. Some of the filters are old and not good imo, some are newer and very good. It includes loads of FX... the total package is mind-boggling, really.braacq wrote: Thu Dec 18, 2025 12:36 pmWhat do you guys who own both think, especially sound wise, as I find it’s one of Rapid’s strong points?
A lot of people tend to regard Arturia stuff as not sounding as pristine or 'high quality' as others, and I'm never sure how much of that is a psychological effect based on the GUI. Arturia's GUIs tend to be a bit slow in updating, and when playing with parameters this can lead to changes feeling less than smooth. There's also a question as to whether certain modulations are running with less smoothing than one might find in e.g. Serum. I'm not sure. Pigments can do all sorts of things, and make great sounds.
Rapid seems like the whole thing was made with a specific vibe in mind and everything is tailored towards a kind of high energy/high tech sound. Spacey.
Of course, both can be made to do pretty much everything, with skill from the user.

i wouldnt recommend Rapid atm to anyone at all anymore, if people buy it, welll.....
and i dont use it anymore in new projects, and if i use/used it i exported the stems to be sure.
bad dev, bad communication, should stay away from VSTs and having an online shop, when you interact online and are just silent then what do you expect?

I personally think Rapid is the better synth between the two. Both for the sound and overall capabilities. The granular system is very user friendly, you have multi-sample support, resynthesis, an 8 layer system with per layer LFO, Envelopes, Sequences (resembles MSEGs), Effects, Arps and Bus routing. Its really easy to build a sound thats in your head.
Even in its less supportive state, I much prefer, and continue to use it over most other synths (Dune is a close second). I like Arturia, but Pigments to me has always had a cold digital sound to it. Its a cool sound, but not something im after very often.

It doesn't if you use the post V6 analog filter with drive control, or the MS-20.MattLeschuck wrote: Thu Dec 18, 2025 3:45 pmPigments to me has always had a cold digital sound to it. Its a cool sound, but not something im after very often.

The Sequences section resembles MSEGs. Technically they are not fully drawable like traditional MSEGs, but in my experience they can get you close. If Parawave comes through with the next update, drawable MSEGs should be part of it. Ill edit my original post for confusion.Trancit wrote: Thu Dec 18, 2025 3:58 pmMSEG???MattLeschuck wrote: Thu Dec 18, 2025 3:45 pm ...an 8 layer system with per layer LFO, Envelopes, MSEG / Sequences, Effects, Arps and Bus routing. ...

I like the MS-20 filter and it was indeed a good addition. But the overall sound of the synth just doesn't get me into the Rapid and Dune territory. It always sounds a bit cold and stiff too me. Reminds me of Phaseplant a bit. Not a bad sound, just not something im after.chagzuki wrote: Thu Dec 18, 2025 3:59 pmIt doesn't if you use the post V6 analog filter with drive control, or the MS-20.MattLeschuck wrote: Thu Dec 18, 2025 3:45 pmPigments to me has always had a cold digital sound to it. totaly understood, I prefer to use a VST which is officially supported and patched regularly.

Hi, does anyone know if there will be an update for the Rapid? It's a very good instrument, yet it's so rarely updated?
