The renaming is probably the most interesting thing about V8!
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Now we know where the missing major feature releases are, they saved them up for their Fender Studio Pro 8.
Mac mini m4 pro, Reaper, too many plugins, Modal Argon8, Novation Circuit Mono Station and now a lovely Waldorf Blofeld.

We were told that new features would be released organically as they became available. That is what we paid for. So a lot of these new version 8 features were paid for by early adopters but never delivered.

The way Presonus does development - I would guess there are anywhere from 3 to 5 different versions of Studio One/Studio Pro in the pipeline at all times - and judging by the look, feel and inclusions of v8 - this version is not a direct offshoot of the v7 pipeline.Kypresso wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 8:42 pm Now we know where the missing major feature releases are, they saved them up for their Fender Studio Pro 8.
We probably would not have gotten most of this stuff in the v7 cycle anyway - especially due to the branding change which I can only assume was non-negotiable from a corporate direction.
No way they were going to inject the entire Fender Amps lineup in the mix and allow the thing to still be called "Presonus Studio One".
No choice but to wipe the slate and into a new major cycle.

I wonder why they didn't just call it Fender Studio One, as opposed to Fender Studio Pro? I guess since they have Fender Studio it makes sense but still.
Studio One // Bitwig // Logic Pro // Ableton // Reason // FLStudio // MPC // Force // Maschine

They came out with Fender Studio to hide what they were doing in plain sight. It was setting up the move they unveiled today.apoclypse wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 4:22 am I wonder why they didn't just call it Fender Studio One, as opposed to Fender Studio Pro? They dropped the 'One' from the name probably because the name "Studio One" has been awkward ever since version 2.
Also, before it had the name "Studio One" and happened to be from PreSonus, but now it feels more like the name is "Fender Studio" rather than simply "Studio" that happens to be from Fender.

So…Fender Studio Pro 8 is here.
What are all the 4 major upgrades within a year that were promised?

No promises were issued and no guarantees were floated.
See the graphic in the post above. Sums it all up perfectly.

The only expectation for a DAW between versions should be bug free operation and CPU efficiency. What new features would it even need?

The most feature requests I read regarding v7 were mainly refinements of existing features.electro wrote: Sun Jan 18, 2026 5:33 pm The only expectation for a DAW between versions should be bug free operation and CPU efficiency. What new features would it even need?

I don't think it's tiresome to point out that customers who bought v7 were misled because it is relevant to how customers should view Fender Studio Pro going forward. I remember the video where they assembled Joe and Gregor (and somebody else, I forget who) to boldly talk about a new paradigm where they would be dropping new features on a more regular basis and on a grander scale.
If anybody wants to rake back through their ever word and rationalise a world where, technically speaking, no promises were issued or broken then go right ahead. But that isn't going to change the fact that as far as I'm concerned (and I wasn't one of those that bought v7) they have totally failed to deliver what they said they would and I wouldn't trust a single word that comes from them going forward.
If you think I'm wrong then I won't try and persuade you otherwise. But there's absolutely not a shred of doubt in my mind that I was misled and nothing you can say will convince me that's not true because ... I was there, man!
