Has anyone else gotten stuck notes or perhaps more accurately stuck patches in Spire? It happened a few times in FL Studio but this morning it just happened in Bitwig.
All notes off or panic doesn't work but switching to a new preset will sometimes work but then switching back to the old patch and it's still stuck on a note. Switching to some other patches will also sustain the note. I need to work on it more to see if there is anything in common with the patches that get stuck.
The only solution appears to be to delete the instance and load a new one. This does not occur in any other synth I use so that would seem to point away from it being a system issue.
Anyone else had this happen?

I used it for about an hour today switching between presets and recording live MIDI from my keyboard, etc. I had no issues and was using it within Cakewalk. I don't have another DAW installed at the moment to check it out.

Yes. Getting stuck notes is a known issue. It happens with mono mode patches when using the sustain pedal. It's the one issue I have with this otherwise fantastic synth.

Ok thanks for the feedback. I am not able to reproduce the issue and it doesn't happen very frequently but it always occurs while auditioning a series of patches.
At this point my money is on some wonky patches that cause the issue, perhaps ones made with older versions of Spire.
I wasn't using the sustain pedal and again it doesn't really feel like a traditional stuck note, more like stuck patches. Some will sustain the note and others will not and again an all notes off will not stop the notes.
I'll keep an eye on the issue and see if I can gather more information. I'll see if I can trigger it with mono patches and the sustain pedal to see if the results sound the same.

Teksonik I have also had this problem on the Mac with Spire AU in Ableton. Doesn't happen often but same scenario for me. Was going thru a handful of patch banks I had bought at some point.

Ok thanks, I didn't get a chance to work with Spire today but I hope to spend some time tomorrow trying to find out the steps needed to reproduce the issue reliably.rezoneight wrote: Sun Jul 17, 2022 11:45 pm Teksonik I have also had this problem on the Mac with Spire AU in Ableton. If so then I can send a report to the developer.

Yes. My issue is very similar. The note sustains even when switching patches. For me, it only happens on Monophonic patches. When I switch to a poly patch, the sustain goes away, but as soon as I switch to a mono sound, the sustained note comes back. But my issue is very reproducible with a sustain pedal. I did send in a bug report last year.Teksonik wrote: Sun Jul 17, 2022 12:19 pm I wasn't using the sustain pedal and again it doesn't really feel like a traditional stuck note, more like stuck patches. Here is a thread on KVR regarding others with similar problems. I describe my issue on Page 2 of the thread. viewtopic.php?t=539195
I have been using Spire for over a year without any issues. Just my one sustain pedal problem. I use it live all the time and it's been terrific. Never had a stuck note, but I also don't use monophonic sounds.
Let us know once you figure out how to reproduce the problem.

Thanks, I forgot Reveal Sound has a forum here.
I am able to reliably reproduce the sustain pedal issue and I see from the other thread you reported that a year and a half ago.
I wasn't using the sustain pedal when I got the stuck notes I reported earlier but try as I might I haven't been able to reproduce that issue again. Holding notes, rapid program changes, switching between mono and poly patches etc.
I'll post in the other thread and see if we can bring attention to this issue again.

If you aren't bothering to use Spire for commercial use, you can apply a student discount to the already discounted Spire and buy it for around $70!

Once the problem starts you'll find that when you switch to a mono preset the sound stops, and the stuck notes are on the poly ones.Teksonik wrote: Sat Jul 16, 2022 4:13 pm Has anyone else gotten stuck notes or perhaps more accurately stuck patches in Spire? My issue was with cubase:
Hi!
Thanks for waiting.
Our engineers investigated the problem and gave the following response:
When Bypass is enabled in Cubase, the plugin does not receive commands, including the Note Off command, so the active note may get stuck.
We also found out that Cubase performs Bypass not according to the VST SDK specification: When the Bypass button is pressed, the Suspend function should be also switched on for stopping all notes.
Our test showed that several third-party synthesizers also get stuck notes in this situation, so we assume that it's a Cubase peculiarity. For example, Studio One does not have this problem.
The solution may be replacing Bypass with Mute.
We also considered adding a force stop button for all stuck notes to the next Spire update.
Best regards,
