I'm not that interested in getting into a quote war. What is it about the internet that makes all of us be so desperate to be 'right'?mandolarian wrote: Anyhow, not sure why you're ragging on me about the Apple Buyout Theory, it's the most popular speculation thus far and you've subscribed to it yourself not too long ago:
That was before you divested of your Camel products, so maybe you know more than you're willing to tell..Oh I get it, you're Ben Gillett, the Ben that founded Camel Audio. Admit it!machinesworking wrote:I own all three of their plug ins, and I'm kind of shocked about this!?
The way they worded it makes me think it could be a buyout? It's similar to how Redmatica went, doing seemingly well, and the developer was hired by Apple.
The more I think about it the more this has to be the case; so where are we going to find their skills? any information?
Nobody bought the Camel stuff I was unloading, no big deal I can use them until an OS crushes them, and no, even my quote you posted here says nothing like "I think Apple bought them." I think someone bought them for sure, and Apple is a possibility.
Again my main point was that it would not be the worst case scenario, not by far. Thankfully the NDA nature of the way they closed shop says they didn't get out of the software plug in development business though.

F*** being right. What makes us so keen to fill the screen with misinformation?machinesworking wrote:I'm not that interested in getting into a quote war. You don't want to get into a quote war, because you lost that war. That you started. You mistook Ben H for Ben G, no biggie, (except that Ben H is waaay better looking). Then used the mistaken identity to misquote for your case that it wasn't Apple at the top of the list - and then directed the misquotes at me.
You made it personal, Mr. Machine. For no apparent reason. Except perhaps I hurt your fan feelings for the iPhone company. They're the biggest, richest controlling company in the world. Trust me - they can take my meager critique without your galant volunteer defense.
In your opinion it's not worst scenario by far. In my opinion it's in the top 3 worst cases.
Apple, if they are the buyer, will screw over the majority of Camel's former users. And you seem totally fine with that. And they will screw over OSX users as well - they won't release Alchemy 2 - some watered down derivative at best. But, Garageband on iOS will be rocking some new sounds - for your phone and pad! Yay!
The worst case scenario has actually already happened. Camel Audio is no more. Camel Audio Alchemy 2, will not be released. Ever. This thread is as much a wake as it is a 'why did this happen' witch hunt.
I'm done with your misinformation spree. We have months of of idle speculation to work hard on in this thread. You can either help with some creative End-of-Camel theories or cute cat pics.
And just for the record, I have a number of working theories - Here's what I posted way back on Page 124:
My worst theories: (so far)
1. Apple bought Camel just to piss us off.
2. Google bought Camel just to piss off Apple.
3. Microsoft bought Camel to try and look cool, like you know...
4. NI bought Camel because they heard that there were rumours on KVR that Komplete wasn't nearly komplete enough.
5. Some Shanghai billionaire/self-styled no-talent tarnce artist bought Camel to be the only guy on the planet with Alchemy 2.
6. Disney bought Camel to add authenticity to their new animated feature about a herd of thespian Elk who perform bad Scottish camel impersonations as they work their way across the Highlands in search of a sequel that actually has a plot.
7. SONY bought Camel to keep the North Koreans from hacking Alchemy 2 causing world-ending gangnam spectral-style remixes.
8. A group of disgruntled, well-funded Scottish nationalists bought Camel audio because it was cheaper than taking whiskey off the market. And just as painful.
9. The NSA bought out/silenced Camel because the Alchemy 2 technology was so advanced that it could produce tracks that would liberate the human spirit, even when created by guys who usually spend their days and nights sitting around in the underwear gawking at cat pics on KVR bitwig threads.
10. Camel was NOT bought out. However, late last Monday a white ford transit was seen pulling away from Camel HQ driven by Scarlett Johansson.
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

yes i talked with my friend about this, we were so happy we never started something for Alchemy!Sampleconstruct wrote:Thank you!Ameyah Audio wrote:good stuff, i always forgot how good the black skin looks.Sampleconstruct wrote:Some Alchemy Nostalgia which I improvised yesterday live on video:
what happends with your alchemy soundsets? will they become freeware or what?
incredible work on them, still a bit sad about Alchemy 2 will not gonna happen.
Yep, I was sad for weeks too, now it's more a feeling of nostalgia and when improvising with it yesterday I was filled with joy and a feeling of farewell
Nah, no freeware, I will recycle a bigger portion of the samples for other hybrid instruments (like 17+ Gigabytes), do a final sale very soon, then let them live on the website for a while, then tuck them away in a legacy section of the website. Some of it has already been torrented anyway, once the pirates hack the final Alchemy version I guess I'll see more of libs up there too.
Unfortunately the aaz-format with the resynthesized data can't be recycled in any other program as it's a special Alchemy format - jeez, I spent months resynthesizing about everything I could find.
from your point of i can understand it, the amount of work was really high assume, but its awsome that you can recycle the audio material at least.
agree i think in the next month i am sure something for the free camels will definitely come, the company is dead, why should they now hold behind the mountain?
it always feels bad, when something gets shared from your own work, you put lots of offered in it and others take it for free away and probably complain about it, thats not filling their imagination view they had as they heard the audio clips.
hope you find a cool hybrid synth, where these sample can continue to live.

If I understood right, that subscription model has kinda "premium" support and you get updates immediately when others have to wait awhile or something. And as I just checked, you seem to be able to buy that platinum with one time price too.Jace-BeOS wrote:From reading the other thread, yes, but you don't get support without the subscription version.Lejurai wrote:Only optionalUnfocused wrote:First Sonar goes to "subscription" modelYou can still buy those other versions.

You 'buy in' in one of two ways. Pay for a year's subscription up front. Or pay a subscription a month at a time.
Once you've finished paying twelve months subscription (ie immediately up-front, or over twelve months) you get to keep whichever version its on and whatever updates have been added at the point when your subscription ends.
Until you've paid twelve months sequential subscription (ie immediately, or over twelve months) you get to use whichever version its on and whatever updates have been added up to that point.
If you dont pay a whole twelve months sequential subscription (ie immediately, or in twelve months) your version reverts to whatever it was before you started paying.
Nobody has to wait for anything, nobody gets different support. While you have a valid subscription youre on the same footing (updates, fixes, support, everything) as everyone else with a subscription.
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."
