Sir does sound a liitle better on drums.....

But as with every impulse response reverb, there are some drop downs:

-some missing high transients ( maybe due to recording quality of the impulse )
-kind of "static"
-dry sound and reverb does not get "one thing"

But from what I have heard Altiverb should be better than the other convolution reverbs...
So this might be another choice....

ok, finally back in the studio ...
will work myself through all the contributions made here ...
forgive me if i cannot answer all individually,
i try to pick the ones where i think i want to say most about them if that is ok ...

meanwile, as some of you guys requested,
here's the second long aar-preset, which i was fooling you with and said it was the L224:

Lexi_224_declared.fxp

i will also try myself on reverbing drums in near future, but i will open a new thread on this i think,
to not confuse all the contributions.
btw:

in case of you just missed my post, as there were no reactions (good or bad) at all, someone requested to hear the artsacoustic reverb in a mix, here is one ...

drowning images < aar in full mix

i posted this before, so ignore this post in case you just did not want to comment ... :)

last but not least:
honest thanks to all, this was/is a great thread, i wish kvr threads would have allways that depth,
thanks again!

good song brok. I didn't like the drums much, but the beginning, and especially where the arp kicked in sounded like tangerine dream or something. Reminded me of many great works from the "demoscene" as well.

I especially like the bitcrushed (?) massive filter chord.

Now I know better why you like AAR so much. Seems to fit well with this type of music.

thanks, kingston ... yeah tangerine dream ... remembering these fine days ... ::

you mean the one that glides ove one octave? yes, i like thatone, too ;) i made it out of z3ta, albino and i think synth one was involved, iirc (don't find the logic-song anymore) ...
then i sampled it and bitcrushed it a bit ... sometimes things just work out the way i want, this was one of them ... ;)

yeah, this is how i use reverb most, and this is where i did not manage anything else to get there ...
but i am still interrested in any other reverb unit, that compliments the aar, as, f.e., i really did not find the right reverb for that rimclick in that song, even the convoluters did not make it in this case ...
i don't really like convoluters anyway, as one can not match them into a mix, but has to build the mix around the impulse to fit the whole (unless you're really lucky and the impulse fits perfectly).
maybe the csr would've superiour in that rimclick-task?
all other reverbs (i tried them all) did not do it better than the aar up to now, exept maybe the princeton, but it eats way too much cpu, and i won't pace my system for a one trick pony, which i found the princeton to be ...

AVBunyan wrote:I use Trueverb to try to duplicate that nice "long Verb" and I admit I can come close but cannot duplicate it - In a mix one may not be able to tell the difference.

Probably two reasons I cannot duplicate:

1. AAR may just be better - and it could very well be - no big deal - it is a nice verb.

2. I haven't learned to use Trueverb well enough yet.:(

My point - It just shows that if one has a good verb and knows it well then he can get good sounds. There are a lot of good verbs out there these days and in the right hands all can do a nice job.

God bless
hey avbunyan, its not the thing to copy it, every reverb has it's own character.
how about posting the files, so we can hear?

Hey. I like that song (drowning images) very much :)

Great song, brok. Here's another mix using the AA on acoustic guitars, vocal and a little synth...

Here is another mix, which was nearly dry and I just send it through a convolution reverb with Yamaha SPX990 impulse response file as master reverb....
its a very short reverb....(gate type)

extremly dense. Listen to the claps, they have a nice texture...
http://home.arcor.de/rd50info_site/sound/tune.wma

AAR seems to be good for ambient sound, as broks example shows....

It seems to depend on the kind of music we are producing, not every reverb unit is good for every kind of sound.

thanks, kmonkey! ;)
yes, now that i listened to it again i was wondering, too, that i wasn't able to sell it these days ... however, the aar worked extremly good on that mix ...
is the csr able to do such things, too?
of course with it's own character ...
how is the modulation sounding, if it has got any (i think i read it has)?

now that is something different at least!
sadly i'm not at the studio, so i can't say something about the mix itself, but i never would've imagine that one would use the aar for that style of music! this is what i meamt when i posted that i am interrested in different opinions and tasks ...
i must check your mix right when i'm back in the studio ... ;)

exactly what i was stating all the time in this thread ... you're into miami bass ...? :hihi:
i remember these days in the eighties ... :D
btw, allthough (as i stated a post before) i am not in the studio, so i can't really say something about the mix itself, i miss a reverb on the delayed juno106-like sequencersound you have it there ...

Can somebody explain to me what am I doing wrong
Thanks a lot
