Yeah, I found that to be the case too, though once you fix it the samples sound great. Between these (I got the arp collection too) and my hardware my VAs are looking pretty weak.

Importing .wavs into SampleTank is a labour of love.

There is no utility that I know of, and you're right ExSC supports SampleTank1 format only, but ST2.5 will load the instruments (I think). By renaming the samples, you can define the root note and velocity zones for ST2's Import. But it was all too much like work for me to do unless I really wanted the sound. :)

So there is no way to do it with the images and stuff
There is a mapping util that the guys at SR have surely
Why they keep something like that to themselves when it would be obviously so useful to Sampletank users
I don't get it ?

No problem. I've been unusually busy myself, but I try to catch up. We'll get this done together! :D

Any word on what the esoundz bonus content will contain? Don't need a detailed sample list just an overview of what type of material will be contained. :)

NAS its probably one of those things where it will take money out of Squids pocket if we are allowed to create that kind of content. Just a guess :hihi:

My guess is that Squids has no say over that sort of thing. It's IK Multimedia you should be asking that question to....they're the ones with the control/license over the technology. I suspect they have such a utility but aren't interested in giving it to users.

That being said, they are currently working on Sampletank 3 (see Peter's IK blog)...I suspect improvements in the area of sample import have got to be on their list.

I agree that sample import (in its current state) is terrible.

I'm not completely sure I understand your comments... so I could be misunderstanding. ST has a unique standing among samplers. It doesn't stream. Its hard to program. You have to create child presets. But it has stretch, great effects, and right now it is essentially free. And in some circles, it is surprizingly popular. I live near Atlanta, and a number of the Hip Hop artists like ST... and Reason. They use it with ProTools.

Squids (SR) and IK are two different companies. They work together, but they are not the same. I've got no clue as to why IK has never improved ST's weak points, but I've heard Squids say he has asked for improvements. Remember that SR is not the only provider of ST sounds. And SR has moved a lot of their new programing to Kontakt, so I think a conspiricy is unlikely.

Again, I'm not completely sure I understood your points, so my response may be off. I'm not trying to start an arguement.

No thoughts of conspiracy here... Just that the tool Squids uses to create that content is probably something he considers proprietary technology and would be less likely to give it out because others could create content with it and decrease the amount of content he can sell to customers.

I think the point is that SR provide samples for a product that belongs to IK.

As ReverendRythm said, they are 2 different companies.

I don't imagine that anyone would be threatend by greater facility existing in SampleTank for people to import their own (and there is functionality there, albeit a bit more challenging as suggested earlier in the thread).

If any of us really had the resources and ability to commit to the creation of the range of professional quality samples produced by SR, surely we would be in business doing it and be neogtiating our own deals with IK, so that we could sell them.

I don't beleive there are great utilities being withheld. It is highly likely that it is actually a relatively complex conversion process ot build the sample sets into the files needed.

In this sense, I suspect there are some parallels with 3D game design (okay, off on a tanget). There are tools out there for anyone who wants to try it, but it is a whole lot more complex than it might appear on the surface when you start doing it.

I remember my computer taking over a week (24/7) to perform the required rendering and conversions of a game level I created to replicate an auditorium with the Kiss stage in it. To even work out how to set this off, was a complex matter in itself.
