Hey Markus, you know what would be really cool, would be video demos of some of the features being used. For example the different synthesis types and resynthesis, loading samples, some basic patch creation etc. Developers often do this in the lead up time to a product being released, like GForce, who had a series of video demos for the upcoming imposcar 2 about 2 years ago showing some features being used, or another example was Alchemy. Before Alchemy came out, they did some videos showing the different synthesis methods. This would be really cool for ElectraX and more useful than just audio demos because it would show the interface being tweaked and navigated. Also it's a really great thing to hold people over and maintain interest until the demo is released to play with.Markus from Tone2.com wrote:The audio demos were done by the sound designers and some artists. I am currenlty arranging the material. I expect that it will be finished this week.
The sound demos will be available before the release.
A sound demo does *NOT* represent the quality of the product. It can only show a small part of the sounds, but not 'usability', 'performance', 'analog-feeling', 'workflow', 'stability', 'flexibility' or 'quality'.
We will provide a free demo version of the product at the beginning of December.
Best Regards,
Markus Feil
Available soon: Tone2 ElectraX

I just finished an audio demo with 12 minutes. I tried to keep away from 'dance-trance-only' since a lot of people have critisized this on the Gladiator demosongs.
I'm not sure about the lenght that it should be. One the one hand it should show as many ouststandings sounds as possible, but on the other hand the listener's ears get tired.
What do you think?

Long if it's varied content. Short if it's the same loopz over and over and over again.

I would suggest two kinds of demos. Short ones by category that demo individual kinds of presets. The other should be complete songs made just with ElectaX, and maybe just some drums.
Also, any idea when we will know the price range? A lot of devs are beginning their winter sales, and I, and I am sure many others, have to start making some budget decisions.

A listener's ears only get frustrated when the sound demo goes on and on with one sound. IMO a sound demo featuring presets should not go past 4 seconds per sound (max 5 seconds), to get 15 presets per minute, in 4 minutes thats 60 presets. That's fairly acceptable. Song demos IMO, should also be limited to 3 minutes. I have heard numerous song demos where the intro alone is one minute, which can get boring quickly. Check out the demos for karmaFX or audjoo Helix. IMO, they provided very convincing demos.Markus from Tone2.com wrote:I just finished an audio demo with 12 minutes. +1, my supply of cash for impulse decisions is rapidly dwindling.ravasb wrote: Also, any idea when we will know the price range? A lot of devs are beginning their winter sales, and I, and I am sure many others, have to start making some budget decisions.

^^^ +1 -- the sooner we know the price, the sooner we can "reserve" the "reserve" for purchase.
(Especially with the Waldorf PPG facing imminent public birth -- that's a MUST-BUY for me, too, but it'll beat ElectraX out of the gate. And an "introductory price/discount," or even a "holiday special," may sway whether I fire away at the PPG first..... OR wait 1-2 weeks for ElectraX, and get the PPG afterward.

I say post the whole demo. Longer the better (within reason)
People can pick and chose what they want to listen to, and skip to other parts if they don't want to listen to the whole thing.
On another note, where is the randomizer button on the interface?

The anticipation is killing me as well. I've three more pieces of software I'm buying, this being one of them, before going Dave Ramsey on my financial life(not a crisis yet).

Markus, hello. I like trance music, dance music. I wish that was a separate demo song - "ElectraX trance-dance demo song". Check out all the possibilities of the synthesizer trance music and not just trance and dance music.
I hope for your understanding.

I never mind a longer demo... as long as the sounds are good and varied, the more the merrier... You could also break it into 3 4 minute parts... same amount of audio, but maybe psychologically better

Thank you for your feedback. I talked to Bastiaan an we decided to create a video. It will show the multilayer system, the different synthesis types, the filters and some basic sound design stuff. However this will take a lot of time and must be done after the release.Hey Markus, you know what would be really cool, would be video demos of some of the features being used. For example the different synthesis types and resynthesis, loading samples, some basic patch creation etc.
The price will be annouced as soon as it is available. It will be reasonable and i can promise a good value-for-money.Any info about the price?

there was another thread recently wondering when the next generation of softsynths where going to hit- here you go! I would count Gladiator2 as well- these are synths that simply go beyond anything going in hardware-
