yes, BUT the patches are in the native .h2p. NOT .fxp or .fxb..

Any one else? :)
You really just have to place them in the mentioned folder and they should appear in the Tyrell preset dropdown menu.

On Mac, there's an folder automatically created in Audio/Presets/Urs/TyrellN6.

But seriously, thanks for the help anyway... :)

Nice job on this version. Patches that were previously eating up over 80% on my E6750 (Core2Duo) are now maxing out at 20% with most patches being in the 7% range. That's already a huge improvement.

Yes. Didn't have them in the "right" part of the presets folder...

Thanks Dennis!

VSTJuNkiE wrote:Stupid question #1,

How can I load presets in Tyrell? I see "save", but no load. Thought I could just click on the preset window a la ACE....

TyrellN6.data\presets\tyrelln6,here you can store your .fxp or .fxb

1. Install any presets you downloaded to "TyrellN6.data\presets\tyrelln6" (in your VST Plugins folder). This is also the same directory where presets you create will be saved. Don't use subfolders, they need to go right there.

2. When you open Tyrell, click on the gray box right above Tyrell's mixer. On launch that box will read "TyrellN6.01 Alpha Version)."

3. That opens up a preset dropdown menu. Any presets in the correct folder will now appear in the dropdown menu.

Is the 12db/oct LP/HP filter behaving diferent than Urs has intended?
Seems like a non resonant louder in amplitude filter now.

It sounds like the feedback slider is also enabled.
What exactly is it's function? BTW, the label under
the slider says "feeback" instead of "feedback".
Cheers and thanks again,
Scott
Feedback feeds the vcf output back into the mixer. Gives the sound a bit more "body" but kills the resonance. That's an old trick to make things phat and mushy among the likes of Minimoog, Pro One and SH-09 where one could plug a cable from output back to input.

The general tech is the same (oversampled miniBLEP with tweaked homegrown tables) but there are some intrigueing differences, not just the highpass setting. Just compare Osc1 + Subosc between Tyrell and ACE. Very different. Learned that from harvesting Roland gear on eBay (Juno 60 was main educational tool for Osc design, apart from Jupiter 6 for 2nd oscillator). Might pop it back into ACE as an option... some day...

Question: when saving presets there are fields for Author, Description, and Usage, yet there doesn't appear to be any way to see these after the preset has been saved. Is there more functionality coming in terms of preset loading, or will the extra fields be removed?

I'm also noticing a huge difference in [filter] gain when switching to the 12db pole. I'd expect the softer filter curve to account for a slight increase in volume as more high frequencies are let through, but this seems more extreme than what I'd expect.

One more thing: the output on Tyrell is extremely hot. Even with the osc's set to fairly low levels in the mixer, I can easily be clipping in my host. I've been adjusting the master output as needed, but I'd suggest backing off those levels if possible.

Yeah, I guess I'll make 12dB or so it softer.

Reagarding the difference in Filter volume... can't confirm that yet. Just set up my computer in the new office, but havn't got audio & MIDI going yet.

Missing preset info etc. will happen in ACE-like manner, once the preset browser is established.

A Juno, huh? I thought the oscillator config looked familiar. So you've got CPU down from 80 to 20 %. You've got me interested enough to take a second look. What would get me REALLY interested is a chorus to phatten this puppy up. Even a preset I/II chorus would work for me....
