I admit, I didn't read the whole thread. Turns out I should have. ;)
No need, I could answer faster than you could read all 300+ responses :) Enjoy!

Where is this original post? Apparently it wasn't this one because nothing was posted!

Well, I probably had just a little more than I should have, but there was just too much food not to :)
3ee wrote:Would the "The Ultra-HQ Oversampling mode" introduce latency or phase distortion? ... how about the saturation module?
The oversampling mode will indeed add latency and the saturation modes should not. I will check into this 'phase distortion' you speak of, but I'm not musical expert :) I don't know all that much about mixing compared to probably a vast majority of the users on this forum, but I will find the answer for you.

Also, MixControl Pro will tentatively be released on August 1st for the price of $129.00 USD. I'm not going to update this discussion's title until tomorrow sometime because I would like to double check my copy with others before I include it and send out the press release.

If anyone would like to sign up as a beta-tester, please do so now so that we can start organizing things. Please, only those who are interested in squeezing all the little issues out of the plug-in and reporting them to us in a timely manner should apply.

Yes indeed, I should have added that bit of information :)

Wikipedia wrote:In signal processing, phase distortion or phase-frequency distortion is distortion that occurs when a filter's phase response is not linear over the frequency range ...
This basicly means we'll run into some frequency funkyness when processing in parallel(send/return).
It's common with saturation/distortion but some HQ modes of eqs that are oversampling the highend of the spectrum only run into phase issues as well.

Just because the question came up when the initial version of MixControl turned up... what about MixControl "singles", similar to the T-Racks singles?
Maybe as standalone products, maybe as a complementary add-on for "regular" MixControl owners?

I know from using the first MixControl and from posts I found when (finally) reading back in this thread that MC performs really CPU efficient, yes, I am aware of that fact.

But still, I find it annoying to open a complete "suite" of decent processors and to have to click around and bypass/enable whatever section I do or don't need, just because I want a quick compressor or a quick EQ on a track.
Or maybe on one track I already used another EQ/compressor, so all I want is the stereo tool...

Might be a wise move.
Especially as (very probably) no one would buy a 129$ "suite" just for the EQ. Or the gate. Or the compressor. Or the stereo tool.

Well, I would think that's kinda the point of doing a channel strip. It occurs to me that (music tech duffer that I am) I didn't even realize what the heck they were until I saw the Sweetwater catalog's listing for Toontrack's EZmix. I thought the per-channel preset of several instruments was pretty cool. Is there going to be anything like this for MixControl 2? Or am I just showing what a dumb n00b I am? ;)

Right. The point of doing a channel strip. Which consists of several sub-processors, like a gate, a compressor, EQ, etc.

But I can't be bothered opening a whole bunch of stuff sized half as high/wide as a computer screen and clicking through bypasses and stuff, just to put some compression on something.
If I want compression on something, if I want to filter something with HP/LP or if I want to control the stereo field of a signal ... well, that's what it takes - a compressor, a HP/LP filter, a stereo tool - nothing more.

And if there's a DNR or MixControl processor available that does just what I want, I'm liable to buy and use it. But if it comes to "all or nothing", then I'd rather choose "nothing" and stick with the one-trick-pony processor of another developer.

Also, the "singles" approach would be a good way to add functionality to certain processors of MixControl, that would be "too much" to integrate in the complete MixControl plugin.
So the "singles" could be more specialised and surgical tools, while MixControl is a "best of" of the most wanted/practical features, which could clean up the GUI a little.

Just random thoughts here. Maybe the DNR guys will consider some. ;)
Glad to see they took on the Range knob for the Gate, this has always been a K.O. criterion for me when choosing.

These issues should not occur with MixControl Pro.

This is indeed possible, but we are focusing on first releasing some new unheard of (but useful) effect processors. Since we are still very new to the audio plug-in market, we need to assess the viability of every single product we create and release to make sure that we can continue on in the market for years to come :)

Also note - the announcement has been made for MixControl Pro's release and there are 2 new screenshots of the actual BETA releases that will be available soon. There are quite a few changes and I am very pleased with the amount of detail that went into the development of the interfaces.

A round of applause and a bow to LimeFlavour for such an outstanding job!
