Already posted this in the "synthix demo problem" thread before I saw this thread. If anyone wants to hear it in action for tech-house I used it for a groove I was working on yesterday after buying it. In short, I love this synth.

As I already have PolyKB II and XILS 3, can I use my XILS contest voucher to get extra 33% off on Synthix? Or is this pushing the envelope (sorry, I couldn't resist)?

Good question. Maybe you could try to do the purchase procedure up to the point where you could add a discount code and check if the final price changes. If not you should be able to cancel it before the final step.Mr. Breeze wrote:As I already have PolyKB II and XILS 3, can I use my XILS contest voucher to get extra 33% off on Synthix? Anyway you could send a PM to Xavier and ask him directly. His profile with the PM (and email) is here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/profile.p ... ile&u=8968

As far as I know the XILS contest voucher discount does not count for the new Synthix synth. I've asked Laurent when I got my voucher, because at that time I already owned all available Xils products. It's understandable though because there already is a fair discount atm.Mr. Breeze wrote:As I already have PolyKB II and XILS 3, can I use my XILS contest voucher to get extra 33% off on Synthix? Just one more thing about the layer locking system. Why did you choose the color red when the layer is editable, because with most things the color red means stop/closed, etc. Even in France that is
Wouldn't it be more logical if the locked layer buttons are red colored? Or perhaps make the editable layer buttons green?

Green is a very good idea Nielzie, thanks.Nielzie wrote:Just one more thing about the layer locking system. I didn't think to this, even I didn't find the red very pretty !
Best regards

But red is the universal color for "On Air" warning when recording. Editable layer=recording in progress. I say keep it red!xavier wrote:Green is a very good idea Nielzie, thanks.Nielzie wrote:Just one more thing about the layer locking system. ^^ true, I vote for red=record too! Xavier, great job on this synth when the main complaints are the layer-lock color, and pages 20-21 (and dongles)!evo2slo wrote:But red is the universal color for "On Air" warning when recording. As Kriminal's thread about a possible problem with the demo derailed into a anti-Dongle rant the original thread was split into two different ones.Yatmandu wrote: ^^ true, I vote for red=record too! One about the possible Demo problem:

Another one about dongles:

So who wants to discuss about Xils Lab and dongles should do it there if possible...

Here's some interesting reading about the subject. These sites are wonderful resources for information on other synths as well.

And not to forget Youtube:
When searching for the original manual, I found many sites, but I'm not sure how legal they are, so I won't list them here.

Thank you for making a dongle-free demo available! My ilok is sitting waiting at the music store now to be collected Friday.
I love love love this synth, I can't wait to buy it. First of all, I love the sound, gorgeous. But what I'm really excited about, as I start to grasp the features, is the potential in the layer +, the Chaox thingy etc - that's mostly what I've been playing with tonight. I've also just been diving in to the sequencer and arpeggiator - these seem really quite powerful too. What an expressive, musical, creative synth! I'm already positive this is going to be my favourite synth in my collection.
48 hours and it's mine
Until then, the demo is keeping me highly entertained.

For the color RED :
I think it has been choosen and associated with danger because due to its position in the spectrum of colours its the first to appear and to be noticeable when conditions are bad ( ir storm, heavy rain, intense fog etc )
So its usefull to emphasize part of an interface on wich you wnat to drive focus.

But the conditions aren't bad in this case because when they are red then they aren't locked, so they are safe to edit thenLotuzia wrote:

Ah yes. Well for the editable layer colour I have no preferences. Just that the red is the most noticeable colour, so it can be usefull.Nielzie wrote:But the conditions aren't bad in this case because when they are red then they aren't locked, so they are safe to edit thenLotuzia wrote:

Finally had time to install this today. How do you unlock the layers? - I can't seem to move most params, I know why but it doesn't make sense to me how to do this or why it has this feature?
edit OK worked it out - I was looking for an option but didn't realise I needed to click on the hidden panel that only comes up for some presets - a red colour cue is misleading - green might be better for "go" and red for locked or something. Still can't see any purpose to this locking though and it's annoying that it's built into the preset so I can't seem to change it globally. I would want to lose it for all the presets in one go.
