Oh hey, I'll be the first in line to say I'm no music god. Very far from it. I agree. there are things in my tracks that I didn't get to where I want them. Time, limited skills, and relying on free fx + having 1 synth engine all are factors. Not excuses but just the challenge I accept that I'm up against.MTLE wrote:Can someone please give me a hint why jasinksi is hyped so much here? I agree his tracks are on very high level, no question. Because many people said listen to his tracks to improve, I did that more than once. I found some nice skills that will be tried out by myself and I found things that where not comfortable to my ears in almost each track. From my opinion: good - yes, god - no
![]()
And because somebody already won multiple rounds, people must listen even more critical to those tracks instead of calling them winner automaticaly.
Don't get me wrong. This level of tracks is important for the competition to give some people a goal, but it should not be overrated.
And maybe he will be DQed for missing tech details.
Please add your instances and FX in the thread, jasinski!
I think there are a number of regular contributors here that objectively have as good or better tracks than I.
Oh, and I'll add some details to my entery. I get lazy cuz it's mostly the same every month. I like to limit myself to only the built in fx in Live but this month I did use Camel Crusher.

My entry for KVR One Synth Challenge #74: Dexed
psmacmur - Frequency Meter (Dexed)
https://soundcloud.com/peter-macmurchy/ ... eter-dexed
I've had very little spare time this month, but was really missing OSC and itching to dig into Dexed, so made some time & here we are. Dexed was indeed challenging. Shouts out to wagtunes, whose FM/DX7 tutorial answered quite a few questions I had after initially poking around in Dexed, and to RCL for posting the SY99 manual, which helped a great deal.
All my patches are from init, except one where I forgot to hit INIT.
Made in Studio One 2.6.5 x64
17x Dexed (x64) instances
Midi Sequencers:
3x ToneCarver Nova
2x Graywolf BlueArp
DAW FX:

My entry for OSC #74 DEXED is "Lost City," a short drone piece.
https://soundcloud.com/djp23662/djpeter ... c-74-dexed
This is my first ever entry in an OSC. My Yamaha TX7 from eBay arrived on March 31, and FM Synths were the feature in the April issue of Computer Music, so I really, really wanted to get an entry this month.
I used 5 DEXED patches and assembled the track in Retronyms TableTop on iPad. The TableTop Panhandler and Boom Room effects were used. I loaded two of the DEXED patches into the Gridlok sampler to get around the TableTop device limitation, and played the frozen audio off of the Master Mic recorder. I used the 64-bit Windows version of DEXED on Vista. My VST host was Image Line's MiniHost Modular 64-bit. DEXED was triggered via MIDI from TableTop's MasterMind (routed through n-Keyboards and a MIDI Sport 2X2) and the audio was routed back into TableTop with an iRig connector.
I learned a lot putting this recording together-- especially that production is way harder than it looks! I am looking forward to hearing everyone's entries. I am really into the Yamaha DX7 and TX7, and it is going to be great hearing what you all come up with.

Here's my entry. I had big plans for this track, but a lot of life happened in the month of April. It's nowhere near what I had in mind, but I worked enough on it that I thought it would be a shame not to post it.
I tried to make tuned 808 style kick drums to carry the bassline. They go really low, so listen with good headphones, or on a system that can reproduce deep bass.
Thanks to Mehum for the hi-hat patches. The wood block sounds were the only other un-edited patches I used. Everything else was tweaked significantly starting from various patches downloaded from the internet.
The track uses 9 instances of Dexed. FL Studio 11.
Here are the plugins I used:
Soundgoodizer
W1 Limiter
Limiter No6
Fruity Parametric EQ 2
GGain
Fruity Stereo Enhancer
TDR Kotelnikov
Kjaerhus Classic Reverb
Rough Rider
Fruity PanOMatic
Fruity Reverb 2
Abstract Chamber
Fruity Blood Overdrive
MIDI Gater
TAL-DUB-II
Fruity Multiband Compressor

I'll have to chime in. I think Jasinski (and Z.Prime, and a couple others), not only churn out great stuff, but are extremely helpful to others on the forum, often making presets available, answering questions and the like. I think some of that contributes to the "hype", and frankly deservedly. Months ago Jasinski uploaded his entire Live set. Z always answers questions.jasinski wrote:Oh hey, I'll be the first in line to say I'm no music god. Very far from it. I agree. there are things in my tracks that I didn't get to where I want them. They provide their time to others which is admirable considering this isn't most guys' day gig. Also, I don't automatically call them the winner. I think it's the inverse. Since I'm expecting good tracks, they have to up their game and impress every time - which they do mostly damnit!
