what is missing?

some stuff is intentionally left out as it is problematic (cpu spikes, loud noises etc) and users see it as a bug
Legend misses some stuff on the back panel like 'performance' (mod matrix) and the polyphony switch on the front panel for example.

The thing is when you want to build hardware controllers yourself you want everything and then decide what parameters you omit or want to have in your design. But i found there are often important parameters missing and for me that gets in the way to ever finish something.
In the latest version of The Legend only the mod sources and destinations do not seem to have a Midi Learn feature while the mod amount knobs got it.

The polyphony knob has Midi Learn available.

In it's own way but that's probably because you, Tek and me are all there.

It's a lot less glamorous than you might think, although Dave and Rich (the Synapse guy) and I have probably known each other for 20 years now. Dave and I caught up for a few pints in London in 2005 (quite a few, as it turned out). I flew out of Rich's home town on that trip but he was "sick" so we couldn't catch up. I tried catching up with Teksonik once when I was in Vegas but he was hard to pin down, plus it was a work trip for me and I was very busy, so it didn't happen.

Do you know why Synapse left mod sources/targets out? Has it something to do with too fast changing values when DAW automating causing click and pops or other problems ?

I really would want that stuff in my diy hardware controller. I mean it must be possible, if i can do it with a mouse i should be able to remote control it.

I proposed kind of a hardware controller mode (use at your own risk) to u-he which is disabled at default and provides all missing (critical) parameters. I'm begging them for years to implement something like this.

Seriously, sounds fun. I did a bit of beta in the past, enjoyed the team feel.

Because they are things no-one would ever need to automate.

Really? So you should be able to resize the GUI, change the interface colour, move the plugin window around on screen, enter a serial number and activate a plugin, all from a MIDI controller? I don't think so. There are many things that make sense to be able to do from a controller but there will always be things that don't. Changing sources and destinations in a mod matrix definitely falls into the latter category.

Maybe it's time to realise it's not a great idea? Perhaps you'd be happier with hardware?

I have done a ton of beta testing for both hardware and software over the past 35 years, so I know the drill. I am on four teams right now.

Presumably it'll have low-overhead copy protection..?
