You can convert mkv directly to mp4 within OBS itself.

From the menu, its File>Remux Recordings.

Drag and drop your mkv files on the dialog box that that brings up, and once you've added the ones you want, click 'Remux'

i just had a look at some different fx, kept hitting the limit and having to restart to try others.
found some i will probably use a bit, blurring and making it more psychedelic

No no! You can just Ctrl+Z to undo the effect.

Some effects are not included in the freeware version but you can remove them and that will get rid of the message. No need to be restarting.

I'm still using the buggy V15. So not quite the case of "if it ain't broke" - Need to download the latest and see which new features were included for free. Mind you, it's such an impressive package, I'd be tempted to purchase when I get myself a little more organised.
