I always do it like this

Main Folder (library name) containing these folders:
  • Images
    Presets/sub-folders with categories
    Samples /sub-folder with categories
    Wavetables
Never had a problem.

Of course, because everything is relatively pathed and, at the time I did my first library, I knew that. But it had been so long, I forgot and didn't move the WTs over from where I created them in Serum to the Falcon presets location.

I won't make THAT mistake again.

Aren't custom wavetables, when dragged and dropped into a Falcon preset, automatically embedded and saved with the patch so that the wavetables themselves don't have to be included with the presets?
Some Tone2 synths do that, so maybe that's what you were thinking.

It is hard keeping all this straight but yeah, some do. Falcon does not.

I won't forget again.

Well, i tried it now. As result, the reason was not in one certain module (node). This patch (Sing to sleep 1.2) contain huge amount of modules, and each of them added a small percentage to the total amount. But really, is it right that the inactive module continues to cause cpu load at pressed key ? Need to ask Otristan.

The patch by itself, in default state (with all enabled modules), in peak load up to 75% cpu (of one core) in Studio One v3 cpu meter, and about 42% in Falcon internal cpu meter. And about 46% in Ableton Live 9.

It's always been like that, back from the days of MachFive. Not that this helps in any way, just saying...

I noticed just recently, well in any case bad if it can not be improved in the future. This would give a certain gain of performance when using a large number of modules in the patch.

Post

It definitely would be better if bypassed modules didn't use up any CPU. Like in that other famous sampler out there :)

Post

Depends on which modules:
non voice Bypassed FX should not add any significant CPU, modulation eat a bit more because you want to A/B easily in context.
voice bypassed FX will eat a bit much as their context is always created because you want to A/B easily without restarting the voice.

Hope this clarify things

Yes, really. After remove (instead bypass) all only generators modules (and keep all FX and midi nodes) the cpu spike not reproduced anymore after pressed key. Well, nonetheless, it seems to me it a controversial point. Although, if no way otherwise technically, then alright.

Some more Falcon goodness to listen to.

This synth is so versatile. Can pretty much do anything.

I've noticed something strange when using the analog tape delay. When using small delay times the volume meters "spikes" after the audio stops. (sometimes a couple of seconds afterwards) It seems to only happen with the tape distortion mode and the volume meters, no cpu spikes. I've tried it in Renoise and Studio one with the same result.

@charlie if you have a simple patch that reproduce the issue, please upload it somewhere and we will have a look.

Otristan, thank you! It was very easy to reproduce. Just open a new instance of falcon (default settings). Add a sinewave to keygroup. And add "analog tape delay" (default settings) to program FX. It only occurs with "tape" distortion mode. Tape/tube and analog works fine! I'm on win10 btw

Post

Just tested and I don't have any issue. I'm on Win 10 as well. Does this happens in standalone version ?
