Very interesting BluGenes! Can you tell me how to open that Timeline box?
When I right-click in the area right around the text "Timeline" (or on the timeline) nothing happens. This is unlike Tracks and Phrases and Master Track where a right-click opens the Inspector.

mouse over the far left top of the timeline, then right click.. (just above the track headers)

Thanks!
That right-click to pop up the Timeline dialog is exactly what wouldn't work here an hour ago.
I went out to the grocery store, came back and started over, and then that worked.
Strange.
However, I have made a video that demonstrates the phrase split problem, just to prove I'm not making it up!
After a test in one file that actually did work, I loaded another slightly later version of the file and was able to demonstrate the problem (just after the 2 minute mark).

I'm sorry, I don't see why you say that.BluGenes wrote: Thu Aug 20, 2020 1:13 pm yea watched the video.. it shows that it was already split... so, no seeing the problem..
At 2:20, one click highlights the whole bar (2 chords). That's because there is only one phrase there. (One click, one phrase, all highlighted.)
Once the phrase is actually split (as at around 1:27, the attempt that worked) you can clearly see two phrases.
It's this: (one phrase that did not split, from the attempt that failed)
vs this: (the phrase split into two, in the first attempt that worked)

Well, the vid demonstrates the failure-to-split using the operation in the Phrase dialog.lulukom wrote: Thu Aug 20, 2020 1:06 pm Why not use the "\" shortcut to split a phrase anywhere the cursor is? )
Not in the vid, but just confirmed here, in the file where the operation in the Phrase dialog does not work, the "\" shortcut does not work either.

I agree with lulukom, works here, (windows)... You need to have the track selected and then the phrase.. I think it is operator error in this case..
