I'm afraid you're right. I seriously doubt we'll get an ACB version of the JX-8P that the System 8 can load. Seems they've thrown all their lot in with Zencore.
which means it would be a mistake to buy into zencore, since history shows they will soon abandon that for yet another way to sell us the same stuff again. :dog:

Can you test the new Juno 60 Chorus plugin with a Pro sub or does it have to be Ultimate?

I'd love to try it but not wanting to spend £99 without a demo.

AFAIK Ultimate only

I seriously doubt Roland can make a better Jx8p VST than Martin's free PG8X. They'd be too partial with the idea of allowing sysex support ( gotta try to capitalize on cloud soundbanks ), and those clowns at Roland still don't understand the principal of the proper implementation of basic midi program changes. Remember, THIS CURRENT DESIGN TEAM, IS NOT THE ROLAND from the past with all the great Analog and Vintage Digital history, no matter how much they try n sell you it is. Not even close.

I don't agree, they nailed the Juno 60 ACB.

The ACB teams have done amazing work IMO.

No disrespect, I honestly Don't mean to piss on your cloud or anything.

Same, it's fine to have different opinions.

I suspect they simply reused most of the code of the Juno-106 for the Juno-60. They are basically the same.

I cancelled my subscription, and didn't look back. The permanent licenses I earned pretty much cover everything worth mention they launched so far. And I'm pretty sure they will not launch anything else except Zenology modules.

Not to my ears. Night and day. Juno-60 is far and away the superior-sounding of the two.

Night. And. Day.

I prefer the Softube one. By. Far. Night. Or. Day. ;)

...Now I just need to figure out how to plug that out into my System-8.

Yup, Model 84 is a better 106 than Roland's. A little less flexible, but: meh.

IMO, though, the Juno-60 sounds better than Model 84, and, of the three, it is by far the one I reach for most often for a Juno sound.

YMMV.

Well... Having the Arturia one, and the TAL one, I certainly don't give a damn to any of those (including the Roland). Besides, I own the real thing. It's a very simple synth, nothing to write home about.

Not everyone can appreciate the simple elegance of the Juno.

By now Aira, and thus ACB, is 8 years old. The last known ACB Boutique hardware (which the Cloud plugins are based on) was the Juno 60 update, for the JU-06A, released in 2019. It's possible the code was done long before then though.

They still have the VP-330 Boutique code in reserve. But, the more time passes, the less likely it looks like it'll be released. The work they did for this happened over 5 years ago. Without a change of direction (new System 32?!) it seems likely this would be their last true ACB plugin anyway.

Zenology doesn't compete well against ACB for analogue emulation. It may have DSP polyphony advantages for hardware, but the computer plugin market is a different proposition. For example; there's already a free software alternative which is superior to Roland's Zenology based JX-8P.

So, unless Roland seek more comparisons to someone's taxidermic granny, the wisdom in releasing non-ACB dedicated analogue emulations is questionable, and likely to generate a negative response. Not to mention the rather cynical attempt to charge customers twice for the same code, if they want both Zenology and stand alone versions, which is what they've done with the JD-800.
