Hi,

to unlock you got first click on "MORE" besides the Xils logo.
Then you could right click on the layer which you want to edit which should be marked red then.
If you want to select all layers (which is necessary if all 16 voices should have the same settings) you could first select the first layer, hold SHIFT and then click on layer 8. You could also click on the space directly below the layer selection. Each of the layers is bound to a certain voice like e.g. voice 1 + 9 for layer 1, 2 + 10 for layer 2 etc.

You could also check page 20 of the manual which is downloadable here:
http://www.xils-lab.com/pages/Synthix_D ... llers.html

BTW here is an example how to do a patch with 4 different layers:

- click on "MORE" besides the Xils logo and the layer selection appears
- right click on the layer you want to edit and do your settings (selected layers are marked with a red frame)
- do this for the layers 1-4
- copy the layers 1-4 to the layers 5-8 with the "Copy" and "paste" buttons below the layer selection
- choose "4 voices Unison"
- activate all 16 voices (they should show a red dot, green dots show which voices are played currently
- set the key mode to "Poly Circular" or "Poly reset"

With this setup the patch will have 4 notes polyphony.

That's what confused me - I was looking for this "More" option for ages and then realised it (and the XILS logo) only appear in unlocked patches! That is very unintuitive. Would be good if unlocking was learnable so I could assign it to some Kore buttons and easily switch on/off.

Also how do we save chaos presets? (Same with the similar PolyKB panels - they still need preset save)

So far saving such presets only work in Xils 3.

BTW besides inside the manual there is a short list of shortcuts if you click on "?" at the upper right corner of the GUI.

One bug i just found is that in locked factory sounds there is no "HIDE" button so you could not close the layer selection in those cases.
Same about some of my own patches which i saved while the layer selection was open (with the full version).

I just found out how the PWM works with the Sawtooth waveform. You have to click on the Sawtooth waveform (same for the Triangle) and the symbol changes to two sawtooths. Now you can use the PW knob to set the offset or modulate it like a Pulse waveform.

Yeah its a deep synth , lots to explore :)

@Simon, Ingo :
the current clickable labels will be changed : I did them very quickly, but they need to be well drawn. Hopefully there will be more obvious to use.

When the saw or/and the triangle are pulse width sensitive, they are modified by the knob width (in sync with the pulse).

@aMUSEd : I agree this could be useful. But every part should have his own save/recall functions (Simon already asked for a "layer" save/recalling feature).
_ Chaox
_ Rhythm
_ Effects
_ Layers (even inside the layer, each of the modules)

the sequencer has already its own presets.

The Synthix is not yet at version 1.0, so there is a wide room for improving it and add new features until version 1.5 then 2.0 !

Best regards
Xavier

Hi Xavier,

i'm just working on some presets that use the Sawtooth PW and/or PWM.

Hi Stephen,

Yes we will work on the fact that the GUI gives more feedback to the user regarding the current status of both the Layer(s), and the Panel.

Formerly the idea is to offer both a Simple Panel Mode, a la Synthex, for users who wish that the Synthix behaves like a standard VA synth.

In the Panel mode, each edit affects all layers simultaneously. Its a bit like having a turbo Synthex under the hands.

Then for power users, and Sound Designers, the Advanced mode allows to edit different layers with different settings.

But the UI should make it more clear, and we're working on possible solutions atm.

As for the Chaos LFO its has only two parameters, if you exclude the targets of its dedicated Matrix Modulation. I dont think using templates might be very usefull in this case.

Dongle or not, I just purchased the Synthix too :D
Makes it 3 out of 3 for XILS (next to PolyKB and XILS 3 - also full version since today)

I just bought my ilok, set up my account atc, bought my Synthix, downloaded the license, installed the synth... all went great! Plus there's a nice cool blue glow coming from the ilok.

Totally stoked, time to start having fun with Synthix! Thanks for the great intro deal!!

JP8? Try the OP-X PRO-II. Search on this forum, and on the OP-X website and you will find a demo of their Jupiter soundbank (there are also youtube videos of JP8 sounds and songs on OP-X). As these seem quite convincing, maybe ask them for a JP8 style GUI, as it looks the sound is already there :) .

Would rather see another yet undiscovered gem as VSTi from XILS, as they did with PolyKB and Synthix.
