Backup the installer if you buy it!!! I can't even get the Tangle installer after I got a new computer because the guy will not respond to me.nordickvr wrote:Yes.Distorted Horizon wrote:...All I want from him is, that he'd finish the projectdark water wrote:Perhaps he just doesn't like people?
The Tangle was really promising.
The Mangle is still my preferred granular synth.
Once one knows about the situation with dev, it still available for not much money.
Use at your own risk.

The download links I received over two years ago still work, so you could go back to those original links.Lempface wrote: Backup the installer if you buy it!!! I can't even get the Tangle installer after I got a new computer because the guy will not respond to me.

Maybe someone can send you via Dropbox or something the last installer?
I would also backup the installer too if I were you. I own Mangle and I did backup mine, cause I don't trust this dude at all and I don't want to rely on him to provide me installers.

Yeah, I’m in the same position. I bought it on a Mac, but when I upgraded I went PC. I don’t have the pc download, and have no access to it, so I just gave up and uninstalled this one. Luckily it was only 20$ It’s a fun piece though. The guy was making good programs. I think he just got tired of dealing with the customers. Everyone had something to bitch about and he was selling these things for 20$ and I think he just gave up.

There still seem to be links to buy his synths... if you buy them does the developer respond?

When you buy them it was an auto mail with links sent your email. The dev never responded to anything by mail, and that’s what people are bitching about. It’s basically 20$ and a one time shot, but the plugs work well and are stable.

Something weird happened with Tom. Not sure what exactly but long story short here my experience with him, few years ago.
I helped Tom in the development of Mangle, his very first plugin. Because of my love for granular synthesis, I helped him with feedback, ideas to implement, tips, etc. I also helped him to beta-test extensively Mangle for many weeks, to find issues, bugs and sent him reports of regular basis. The guy was super mellow and responsive, always replying quickly. He was very open to suggestions and he seemed ultra motivated and active. Then one day, don’t remember when exactly but that was after the official Mangle release, boom… Like a magic trick the guy disappeared, totally stopped replying to me (for more bugs and issues I kept founding) and he just when total ghost. It was like if someone else took control of his email box. I sent him several emails, even asking at some point if everything was ok and cool with him, nothing but a static noise… Zero response. Since, he never ever got back in touch with me.
Pretty strange uh? I still have zero idea what happened, if it’s a health issue or financial or another personal issue. But something happened there.

I think that was every bodies experience. That’s the same experience I had when he came here and announced the Tangle. Was super cool, responsive... in the thread. Fixed a couple of flaws and then just ghosted and pulled down the blinds.

For you, at least. I would encourage everyone to test their own setups thoroughly before buying. The mangle locks up and/or crashes frequently for me, on two different setups. I gave up trying to use it, which is a shame, because I liked it. The real kicker is it worked fine until one of the last beta versions. If the bug had been introduced sooner, maybe it would have got fixed before the developer bailed on everyone.Dasheesh wrote:but the plugs work well and are stable.

Crashed for me too, a few days ago. I was using probably one oscillator, the sequencer and just a few more things, not a crazy patch by any means. I hope he comes back to this thing, because the concept is amazing, it just needs a bit more polishing.Dozius wrote:For you, at least. No doubt, Tom is getting a true master at apologizing and getting excuses for his sloppy support.
