exactly what I use (both pics just taken)Karmoon wrote: Wed Nov 17, 2021 1:59 pmI'm really interested in what your thoughts are with recording cabs with this mic, if you care to share. The Noodlist wrote: Mon Nov 15, 2021 6:03 pm Nothing, but here's a dynamic mic at low price, it might work well on cabs, It's well rated on percussion.
Pulse d606 Tom/Snare Drum Microphone £13.39 inc delivery
I currently use an SM57 and E906, which is a classic combo, but i'm always looking for more cool mics.
Cheers.
I have put a ribbon mic in the bottom of the iso cab for rumble, I have used a third large dia condenser but this has been my long term set up.
I moved here just over 5 years ago, I have this lovely mudroom that is a cat room and a miking room...but it hasnt been used as such as of yet, I have stuck to the iso cab with my extra speakers. (ftr 6 tube amps. three Frenzels, a Jet City 50 watt modified, the boogie in the pic and an Egnater Rebel head).
The mudroom would also hold a drumkit and can be for vox...you see what it mostly is

I needed another distortion as I was only using the ehx overlord on the guitar, when I bought it for synths. I still want to get one of these to go in front of it.

i know dave uses let's call them "the basics" dirt/delay for the records, but does he ever discuss more "out there" fx, or any other stuff?
not having a go at the sounds he uses/makes at all btw, too much glitching and weird fx wouldn't fit, which is why im wondering if he has any interest outside of "work"
or does he try to avoid discussing music at all and wants to talk golf?
id definitely consider myself a fan too
so these are fan questions i guess, obviously no need to divulge anything, wouldn't put you on the spot, just thoughts

When I see him mostly, he's really only interested in golf. Tho being new to pedals myself itvurt wrote: Wed Nov 17, 2021 8:45 pmi know dave uses let's call them "the basics" dirt/delay for the records, but does he ever discuss more "out there" fx, or any other stuff?

id definitely consider myself a fan tooat least up to a point, i did lose touch with them and sought non guitar music for a while, but some of the album's would make my desert island picks! there's two at least that i would find it hard to choose between

hasn't really occurred to me to ask him what he "really" likes in regard to pedals. I will do
that next time I see him, he has been coming around recently, his wife was a nurse,
so he's been kept under tight reigns throughout the Covid thing pretty much. She is definitely the boss of him lol...

he might have little interest beyond the few he needs for work, or he might end up telling you he owns everything and is just like us

I have experimented with a third mic for the room and so on, but haven't found a good match with what I currently own. It could also be that the room I currently work in simply isn't worth recording. I don't have the best gear, but I openly admit that I'm not as experienced with micing things as I want to be. Been experimenting a ton recently, and I am making progress, but I'll keep trying.
I don't actually own a ribbon mic now that I think about it. I'll see if I can get around to including it in my next order.

I noticed your avatar, I have two...one is my son's, both black...that's my Voodoo...I wouldnt get too excited about a ribbon mic like that, it was ok...I typically lean on the 906, I record both but my main mic is the 906.

I got something for my guitar that might seem unrelated at first but read on.
I've been rolling my own cigarettes for years.
Brand: Amber Leaf Original
Last week the Supermarket didn't have any Amber Leaf Original and I didn't feel like going to another place, so I purchased Amber Leaf Blonde instead.
Here's the guitar related bit ...
Some years ago I noticed what seemed to be a stink off my guitar. I put my fingers on the strings and my fingers would immediately smell terrible. I tried all sorts of cleaners to clean the fretboard, changed strings, hand washing etc, all to no avail. It really did put me off picking up my guitar. Something I really only use these days to figure out notes for chords and melodic ideas.
Here's the punchline. After being ''forced'' to change cigarette brand, I noticed there was no more odour on my fingers after picking up my guitar. There must have been some weird chemical reaction going on there.
So, to cut a long story short, the guitar gear I'll be buying from now on is Amber Leaf Blonde.

oh, in that case. ive just bought some new slippers. so now when i put my foot on the big metal volume or expression pedal, it's not like a block of ice against my foot.
still have to be careful which bit of the foot i use for footswitch duty, the middle of the foot f**king hurts on some of the more clicky switches

If you have your foot removed, it won't hurt anymore and you could potentially save 50% on slippers. Money you could spend on guitar gear.

Turn the pedals upside down so you can switch the sound on and off by pressing on the nice wide pedal backs
