I just picked up Spire (a vid in the arturia jp 8000 was the trigger) and kinda wish I had done so sooner. I knew it sounded pretty good, but actually playing with it it sounds better.

Im fine with the general simplicity of the synth, but I do hope they are planning a version 2 or some ui updates. It's seems more a UI for preset users than sound creators.

it could do with a drag and drop modulation system, and some other UI tweaks as it definitely feels a bit clunky. it's so simple they could probably squeeze all 4 oscs, and the FX etc onto the front page.

I'm not going to hold my breath though, seems there haven't been many feature updates for some time. I'll just use it as something to grab when I want some particular simple sound types as the sound does still hold up very well.
It does have drag and drop for some parameters at least.

I've found the mod matrix sort of annoying to use because you can't really see mod sources when in the matrix. Can't remember if Spire does this or not (I think not) but I really like how Hive2 displays the last touched parameter in the matrix. So handy.

Anyway, not sure I would call Spire simple but easy enough to use, yes indeed. I do prefer Hive2 though, easier to navigate and the use of custom wavetables is a winner to me. Possibly Spire sounds a bit warmer. But Hive is also less of a resource hog (although both are at the lower end of the scale).

Thanks for this. I'll have to dig in a bit deeper and maybe even read the manual. I think it has some really nice filters. I've only scratched the surface so far, one session and 3/4 parts for a sketch, but it gave some nice sounds for sure. Has some character that not all synths have.

I do hope they have some plans to make a V2 and that it's not destined only to be maintained.

I juast opened a project where I had a ton of Spire synths which expect a synth called Spire 1.5. Can I download a legacy version that is named "Spire 1.5"?

There’s no need to install legacy versions; Spire is backward compatible, starting with version 1.1.
Just make sure you have not only the VST3 version installed - most likely, your DAW is looking for the VST2 plugin and doesn’t recognize VST3 as a replacement.

Or rename the dll.

Renaming the DLL is not a reliable solution :!:
Spire’s VST2 and VST3 versions are treated as separate plugins. If your project is looking specifically for the VST2 version (e.g., “Spire 1.5”), simply renaming the VST3 DLL will not make it compatible.

Medenka has meant VST2 as VST3 doesn't have extension ".dll' (but VST3 defenitely are a dynamically linked libraries). So, reneaming VST2 dll is a reliable solution. I think two versions (original one and renamed one) even can coexist.

Yes this was the answer thank you. I only had the vst3 version and installing the vst2 version resolved the issue.

For me omly main page works. When im clicking on profile, newsletter etc cloudfare gives me an error 520 and host is source of it.

Opened link from vst itself and everything is now working, noice. edit: Error has 50/50 chance of appearing. Don't think that this is a safe moment to register serial.

i'd really like to have a FX bypass that bypass every effect of all the presets.

It won't until you support plugin migration from VST2 to VST3
