Yes, you are right!

Black box = Unused Voice
White box = Used Voice
Grey box = Voice in release phase

It can look pretty cool if you play some very quick glissandi :)

Cheers

Tarnce gate, Step sequencer and fully skinnable = A big YES.

Those that don't want these features could carry on using v1.10
But I'm all for expanding the feature set of Synth1.

Those extra features would make it the ultimate synth1.
After those there would be nothing else to add except for an expanded fx section.

That will please a lot of Synth1 devotees! 8)
A VERY intelligent update, indeed!

Kind of reminds me of the long drawn-out death of the Yamaha DX7....there were (and still are!) so many free, readily-available patches for it, that it was near impossible to kill the beast....at least, for a while!

I released Synth1 V1.10 just now. :)
This update is bugfix mainly.

Please check it in the following.

For those who haven't already tried it, I'd highly recommend running Synth1 through an oversampling extension such as Chris Walton's Oversampler:

http://sites.google.com/site/chrisrwalton/oversampler

It really makes a huge difference giving a cleaner sound with greatly reduced aliasing artifacts in the higher registers - the difference is particularly noticeable for FM patches. I certainly haven't got golden ears, or anything like, so, if I can hear an improvement, there's probably something to it.

It might not make much of an audible difference on plugins that are already oversampled past a certain threshold, but there's absolutely no doubt that it definitely improves Synth1's sound - mainly by reducing aliasing artifacts (ringing, or noisy effects) in the high registers.

That said, since I made that post I've discovered that it also has the effect of increasing the 'FM Amount' - it's as though it turns the FM knob up a few notches, meaning that FM patches sound quite different, so it's perhaps not an ideal work around.

teksonik (or anyone else capable of japanese), could you maybe translate correctly, so that ichiro can read this?

hi ichiro,

i was finally able to play around with v.1.10, and i have to say that i'm wideley impressed! thank you so much, you have my deepest respect!

however, it would not be me, if i wouldn't have some feature requests ontop. :)
so here we go:

1. please extend the wheel/midi section to be a full modulation matrix by adding the following:
- add all lfo's and all envelopes as sources
- add velocity and keyfollow as sources
- add a "constant" parameter as source, that just adds a constant value to the destination. the ammount determines the added value.
- add a "random" parameter as source, that sends a random value, as son as a voice is triggered. the ammount determines the value range.
- add an "alternate" parameter as source, which toggles between 2 fixed states. the ammount determines the value range of these two fixed states.
- expand the slots to 16 slots.

2. seperate the noise from the osc's and make it its own osc and give it its own static, none-resonanced filter. this could do just what the "tone" parameter in the equalizer/pan section does, but right after the noise osc, before the main filter input mixer. it would basically need only two knobs - "level" and "tone". please make sure that we could still assign it to be the fm modulator for osc1.

3. the phasers need an adjustable center frequency.

4. the delay needs a sync switch. often i need the delay to be not synced to the hosts tempo (pads).

5. extend the mod env to be full adsr, just like the filter env, and make its parameters (a,d,s,r, bipolar ammount) availlable in the matrix as destination.

6. clone the lfo's to 3 and 4, so that we have 4 independant lfo's. integrate the routing into the matrix (that way we could have multiple destinations and ammounts for just one lfo, and it would save gui space, too).

7. make the count of the supersaw/superwave user definable. often i'd not need 7 saws/waves, but rather 3, so i'd give the supersaw/superwave a numeric box from 1 (no supersaw) to 7 (maximum count), or whatever count you have as maximum.

8. add an oversampling switch for all overdrives/distortions, as well as for fm and sync.

9. add one more value to the gate lenght of the arp (128), so that, when the voice is in legato glide mode, the arp doesn't retrigger the note, when gate is set to max.

of course these feature requests are only suggestions, i love synth1 just the way it is, but as you are here finally, in contact with us, i just had to try ... :)
thank you again, ichiro!

+1000 to Broks suggestions, especially 1, 2 and 8.

And one more request - might a phase control for the LFO's be useful?

YIKES its the attack of :-o Synth :dog: 8 :-o
