I tried the UltraChannel plugin and I think I don't need it. I already have vst plugins for compressors and delays and equalizers. And I don't see what's special about these plugins. The only thing that I find interesting is the micro pitch shifter.

Exactly the same as GeorgeZ here. Always been a bit wary of iLok after a bad experience in school years ago but, I thought, they've had years to stabilise it so...
Win 7 64 has never crashed in the 4 years I've been running it but within an hour BSOD. BSODs again for the next 24 hours too. Uninstalled and iLok never to darken my machines again.

I've been using Ultrachannel on just about everything and have not had any problems at all. Keeping my fingers crossed. Win7 64resynthesis wrote:Exactly the same as GeorgeZ here. It is as if putting an iLock on this freebie has created a controversy. At least they are up front about it, unlike that time when Sony put their DRM virus on their audio cds.

Agreed. I mean, there's not much to get excited about digital EQs these days; too many to choose from (some think they're all the same, too), but the Omnipressor and has unique qualities, and I would've shit my pants just to get the Eventide Micropitch for free!lacandon wrote:Not sure bout the eq of this one ,but the omnipressor and the micropitch are well worth

i've got a real strange problem, i love this plugin as i got a compressor and a noise gate in one! this is so handy and i got no plugin which can visually do it so nice.
but!
when i use other ilok products (without the shit dongle!) i have no probs, my pc runs normal, but when i used ultrachannel, something happens with pace, it wants to do something like update or something it seems, i couldnt understand the log from the event protocol from win7 yet, but my pc shuts down windows automatically after some time, no crash, it shuts itself down like you would click on shut down!
this is crazy and never happened before, i thought temperature issues etc. but it happened 2 times and always when i used ultrachannel, this was 2 weeks ago.

Wonder how that is even possible... usually you're prompted when something is trying to install itself, and on accounts with no admin rights, you usually get prompted to type in your admin password too. When inserted into a computer, the CDs installed one of two pieces of software which provided a form of digital rights management (DRM) by modifying the operating system to interfere with CD copying.

It was really easy back then as none of the operating systems had that kind of safety measures. It was only with Windows Vista when the fairly annoying but necessary UAC made a debut.chk071 wrote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_BMG_c ... it_scandalWonder how that is even possible... usually you're prompted when something is trying to install itself, and on accounts with no admin rights, you usually get prompted to type in your admin password too. When inserted into a computer, the CDs installed one of two pieces of software which provided a form of digital rights management (DRM) by modifying the operating system to interfere with CD copying.

Even without UAC, something should not be supposed to install itself. After all it has to be some kind of installer. The common action for the OS when an audio CD is inserted should be to play it back, or show options, not to install something.
