owever the difference in the strings and the reaction of the strings is a huge factor between the AG and EG.
Hi can any one futher expand on this , 4 me feel is everything. if the AG has touch velocity , that means more than speed , more important its going to be a midi controller 4 transalation of playing style and velocities in midi ??? pls correct me if wrong.
thankz in advance....

Could this be easily implemented in your code Markleford? (I can't get Marc's to work, script errors for whatever reason.)AndrewSimon wrote:
By the way Marc's software has an option to change the mute bar into a trigger bar with fixed velocity.
So you can tap on it instead of plucking the strings.
Very handy for any fast action instruments that don't require dynamic playing like some bass lines, piano stabs, drums or my favorite mandolin.
You can also combine a pedal with it for dynamic control.
You can really play very fast by tapping as oppose to plucking.
(Further parens: my problems with SX3 and Markleford's software were solved when I switched from the maple vmc to midiyoke.)

Well, not "easily", but it's a step I have to do eventually to get to some more interesting features.bobby yarrow wrote:Could this be easily implemented in your code Markleford? (I can't get Marc's to work, script errors for whatever reason.)
One thing is I'd have to figure out what message is sent by the mute bar so that I could trigger off it (remember, I have just the -EG to test with). I suppose I could trigger it from another fret, instead. Or have one string be responsible for triggering all six strings if a note is fretted?
(I can't either! But he was able to get mine to work at one point.)(I can't get Marc's to work, script errors for whatever reason.)
(Good to hear! Still, doesn't seem like Maple would've been the culprit by any leap of conventional logic, as it was already demonstrated that MIDI was reaching the sound modules just fine without recording engaged...)(Further parens: my problems with SX3 and Markleford's software were solved when I switched from the maple vmc to midiyoke.)

In case anybody's interested, I've finally bought an EZ Trumpet. It surely is a great toy to me (I've taken a few trumpet lessons a few years ago, but couldn't afford the time to continue learning), but might not work well as a cheap alternative to a wind controller.
It works by singing into it instead of blowing. The tracking is better than I expected, and the latency is not quite noticeable. Like the EZ Guitars it has a midi out. Volume control is translated into CC7, which can be easily routed to breath controller message or aftertouch by external tools. The volume transition is quite sluggish though (yet it may be due to my poor singing technique).
If anybody's interested I can post some pics or sound demos.

If there's a simple way for me to discern this information, I'll do it. Keep in mind that instructions must be written at the 3rd-grade level . . .Markleford wrote:One thing is I'd have to figure out what message is sent by the mute bar so that I could trigger off it (remember, I have just the -EG to test with). Seems like there's a couple potential uses for the mute strip. One would be stabs, which I do find hard to do convincingly with the strings. Another would be a sort of tap-whammy -- a bit of pitch bend on each tap. Third, and mainly most usefully, would be to have the strip act as sustain pedal. If the strip send sustain-on when touched, and sustain-off when released, that would solve one of my problems -- which is how to get sustainer info in with ez-ag tracks.
Thanks again.

Yes please! I've yet to hear that these things are available anywhere outside Japan and Spain: where did you get yours?KLG wrote:If anybody's interested I can post some pics or sound demos.

Well Marc told me once, and I may have it in my notes. Otherwise, he'll mention it again when he sees this.bobby yarrow wrote:If there's a simple way for me to discern this information, I'll do it. Keep in mind that instructions must be written at the 3rd-grade level . . .
I don't think it will allow any "holding" functionality, unfortunately, anything that requires it to send signals for touching then releasing. I imagine it only uses the initial touch.Seems like there's a couple potential uses for the mute strip.
We're just going to have to set you up with a MIDI port merger in the software itself: that's the easiest solution. Hopefully this weekend? I've been swapping around rooms in my house since a week ago, and one of these is my studio so I still haven't got my EZ up and running since then. Heck, I couldn't even tell you where it is right now without looking through the shifting piles of crap!

Marc, Markleford, I found something with Google : EZ-Filter version 1.0, it´s a japanese site. althou my Japanese is below zero, I suppose it´s about ours babies. Maybe worth to check, there are some downloads like "keyboardguitar"-Zip. Who knows, in the land of the rising sun and Yamaha might appear some illuminating ideas !

And sorry bobby, but no update for now: spent all day throwing out stuff and cleaning up mouse-poop in our basement!

Spent the better part of the weekend hauling gravel myself . . . manly, but not fun.
Did do a bit a ez-ag tracking . . . still monitors better than it records, can't quite sort out why.
Good luck with the update, when you get to the bottom of all that mouse waste . . .

My new toy from Yamaha.
The DD55 midi drum pads.

I know nothing about drums but I can get really good results with this puppy triggering BFD.
The cool thing about it is that every pad is assignable and I record each drum separately one at a time. (I can fake it big time)
Now if I could only save the settings
There is one custom kit that retains the memory but it's all gone if you unplug it from power.
I am hoping maybe somebody with programming skills will create something similar to the EZ-AG script.
When you turn this thing on it always defaults to kit 00. So if I could map kit 00 to whatever I need and save it in a preset that would be really cool.
Is midi remapping available in midi-ox?
Can it be saved in a preset?
Anybody knows of any other app for remapping midi?

I bought it from Japan (I live in Hong Kong btw). Sorry didn't have the time to do the demos yet, will try to do it over the coming weekend.Markleford wrote:Yes please! I've once found the EZ Filter page, downloaded it but didn't install. From my very limited understanding of Japanese, this application only has some very basic features, like routing the 6 strings to other midi channels. What we've got here should be a lot more useful.

OK I can do it with MIDI-OX.
Pretty amazing software once you learn how to use it.

I have a problem installing the apps offered on these pages. When I try to register MIDIX.ocx, I get the following message:
"LoadLibaray("MIDIX.ocx") failed - The specified module could not be found"
I tried to register manualy by the method decribed in COMDLG32.OCX.txt, but to no avail. I got the same error message. COMDLG32.ocx, however, did register by that method.
I also tried to regiseter MIDIX.ocx on my primary operating system, and it did work. So apparently the fault is not with MIDIX.ocx.
My secundary, "slender" music OS is on partition D.
I hope anyone has a suggestion.
Thanks, can't wait trying the recently bought EZ AG, which is just 149 euro at thomann.de BTW.
