Lazy Mac user here, I've never set a scan path for VSTs in a particular DAW, Live also does this, but this is the first time I've had a VST that's only compatible with a certain DAW. If it continues to give strife I'll set up the seperate VST folder for Reaper stuff! :)

I'm about to mess around with mixing down in Reaper, particularly it's ability to cue mixes, wish me luck! :)
Oh, I should clarify, by 'in it's own folder' means it shouldn't be nested in your normal plugin folder, the idea being you shouldn't have it scanned by other hosts. It is super easy to define a new path in Reaper, so I would just recommend doing it, other hosts can definitely have issues with it.

I started using Reaper in V4 for a class in college while I was using Pro Tools at the same time. Just like many other people, I didn't like the idea of using a DAW that wasn't the "industry standard", but once I downloaded V5 in my house and started using it, the only thing I could say was "bye bye Pro Tools".

@braj, yeah you’re right much smarter to put it in a special zed folder for Reaper only VSTs!

I think I’m getting there. Tired of waiting around for DP to get VCA faders etc. and got an education bundle with Logic recently, but colaberating with other musiacians who don’t have your obscure DAW or aren’t on mac with Logic etc. and Reaper is an obvious choice. The rendering choices are huge freaking plus to me, being able to select actions to name a stem by name, project, bpm etc. and the speed that a stem is created with folders bussing tracks is making it look like I might just be using it more than Live or Logic or DP! 8)

It has weird hiccups, MIDI items importing with extra time not seen when importing into the other DAWs here, even a 22000 measure import at one point!! :o hopefully that’s mainly me and I figure out a setting that can be tweaked, but for the most part the mac version is solid.
