not equal to... but 3 is a few... so Angus saying he is taking a few days off could be 3, maybe 4 or 5 max... after that you say a week. My point being it is not at all unreasonable for someone to start asking after more days than that when he might be back.

Angus is of course welcome to take more time than that, but when he said a few days, I would expect that to be 3-4 days. It's no big deal and no complaint about Angus... just you jumped on the guy so I replied.

XXX STOP PRESS XXX

Complex new software comes out and has a bug needing a small patch after mass release!

This is unheard of in our industry!! :dog:

Demo is FREE, upgrade/buy when it is stable (enough) 'for you' (or dont use it), as with all software!
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

none of those have a quantitative definition of few (other than more than one)..

Anyway enough of this. We will agree to disagree on his intent.

This won't fix the bug my friends, he will be back when he will.

So after some time with the demo i must say it is a wonderful expressive synth. On par with Equator. But i still can´t get warm with the GUI and workflow so i will pass on this but i must say that the 5D preset work is really awesome.
So great work to the sound designer and i wish the developers much success as well.

agree to disagree?? you jumped all over someone needlessly and now you want to escape into some pedantic bullshit rather than just say maybe you were wrong...

Give people (the chance for) a break. I'm sure the developer has been working very hard to meet the deadline. That's most of the time how these things go.

People need to be able to take a break and when they say "Im off for a few days" I think it's pretty childisch behaviour to start counting days. When you say : I'm off to the pub for a few minutes, your wife doesn't phone you after a couple of minutes to ask when you are coming home, right? :clown:

If she does, you have a serious problem. :clown:

Also, when he's back he still has to look at the problem and fix it. Software doesn't fix itself; that takes time.

It's their decision. But, why not take a few days off before the actual release? That way you won't throw a new product out, and when it doesn't work, there's noone there to fix it. Frankly, i can imagine that it's quite off-putting, when you shell out 179 €, and then you have massive bugs like a memory leak (no idea how something like that can even sneak past "hundreds of beta testers").

At the very least, i'd say that directly after release is the worst (sensible) time for some "days off". I mean, come on, that's pretty obvious, innit? "Hey guys, here's your shit. Don't even dare to have issues, coz i'm on vacation now, byez!!"

KVR.... the best pilots are ashore...

Take a few days off before a release?? In software it's typically a rush towards a release and when you're there, you're pretty exhausted.
The last thing you want is people complaining like spoiled brats really.

It's unfortunate that they didn't catch the memory leak but it will be dealt with, right?

Sky still blue ...
Enjoying the synth...

Over in the ROLI support forums, there's this, from six days ago:
Red wrote:We’re aware of an issue in the current build of Cypher2 which might cause the application to use significant amounts of RAM. If you experience a system message regarding low memory, we recommend that you quit Cypher2 (or your host DAW), which will clear the memory and return the system to normal. In the meantime we suggest saving your project or preset frequently to ensure that no changes are lost. We apologize for this inconvenience, and our team is working on resolving this issue in a forthcoming update.
(emphasis added)

..which is admittedly not super informative, but it's at least some indication that they are planning a fix. I don't think it needs to happen right now, but I do hope that it comes before the introductory pricing is over.

WTF... the guy who brought it up said he's hoping to hear from Angus soon... that's it! Nobody was angry, or bent out of shape, or attacking the devs or saying they should not take a break... One person overreacts to a benign statement and then a 'thing' appears out of thin air.

I was not.
Few doesn't meant 3 as u pulled out of ur ass. A week is well within few days. Angus will fix it when he gets back. He doesn't owe the poster cutting short his vacay cause the few didn't satisfy his few.

I'd recommend to relax a little. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect that, at the most busy time of sales, critical bugs will be fixed. At least i'd consider it the most shitty time to take some days off. I'd expect that from a hobby programmer, not a company expecting to be considered "professional", selling a 179 € software product. Sorry, that's all i can say about it. If you happened to observe Adam Szabo's Viper release, he was very responsive and quick to fix issues after Viper's initial release. And he's about as one-man business as it can get. I don't get the attitude. But then, i don't have to buy, do i?

Post

I don't think there is an intro period. If indeed there was I would more understand the urgency of a fix..
@px, a few of us didn't and don't read it as benign.. Oh God of all knowledge..

The guy wasn't rude or demanding at all... then you went ballistic and acted like an asshole to him... and now you cannot just admit that because you have too big an ego and so you focus on the meaning of few. You should apologize to the guy.
